I am right now reading "Showdown" by Ted Dekker. He's a good author who delivers good horror with a message about good and evil. Weird how he does it. Also, Terry Brooks' "Sometimes the Magic Works". Pretty good so far. I recently finished "Warlord: No Better Friend, No Worse Enemy" by Illario Pantano. Excellent reading about the Iraq War.
"And shepherds we shall be for Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, that our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth unto Thee and teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti!!!"

Harry Potter - Goblet of Fire

And it is BORING!

Why am I torturing myself like this? I really hope Harry gets wacked in the last book. Him and his little goodietwoshoes friends.

Head Gunner for the Royal Sloop Crimson Steel, Queen of the Dead, Instigator of Chaos and Confusion, Knight of the Grand Recursive Order of the Lambda Calculus, and also The Non.

Remember Emu's face, people; one day it's going to be on the news alongside a headline about blowing some landmark to smithereens, and then we can all sigh and say, "She was such a normal person".....

If it makes you feel any better, I wasn't a big fan of that book either.

Well, at least the Goblet of Fire book was waaaay better than that cruddy film. Though I am quite fond of that awesome sound that emenates from Voldemort when his robe forms on him.

At the moment, I am reading The Picture of Dorian Gray. I saw the film years ago and I loved it. I've only seen the b/w version with color inserts when they show the actual picture. Classic!

Yeah that movie sucked ass. It sucks worse now that I've read the book.

I'm hoping that the newest HP film will be pretty good being that Helena Bonham Carter is going to be in it. I did like the character of Belatrix LeStrange in the fifth book. As a matter of fact, I enjoyed the fifth book a lot.

As for the HBP, it was going somewhere, and then it kind of dwindled off at the very end about who the Half Blood Prince really was. I think a more decent title for the sixth book should have been:

Harry Potter and the Year of Irrelivant Lunacy

The whole HBP plot was more of a subplot when there were bigger things going on in that book. Yeah, I know these books are for kids, but the title of the sixth book was somewhat misleading, being that pretty much the entire book wasn't about the Half Blood Prince! WTH?! All joking aside, I did enjoy this book too.

Imajica by Clive Barker. It's rather bizarre.

Last weekend I read the three books that come after Ender's Game (not the Bean series, already read those) - Speaker for the Dead, Xenocide, and Children of the Mind. They were good in a lot of ways, and kinda dumb in some other ways. Just a little too hokey in some areas that ended up being major plot points. I liked the Bean series better. But it was just nice to finally have time to read for a change. Now my time for reading is up, as I'm going to start keeling over from school work.
Has anyone read any other Orson Scott Card books other than Ender/Bean, that are any good? I read the blurbs and they just don't seem to interest me.
I am writing about Jm in my signature because apparently it's an effective method of ignoring him.

Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. God, I love that book. It's so outrageously glorious, I can't even tell how glorious it is.

+ Nick Hornby's High Fidelity, some of you might remember the movie. Dunno what to think of it, really, since I'm somewhere in the middle of it, but it's got a lot of potential.

+ Alfred Bester's Demolition. A classic, I tell ya (whilst still being drunk). It's one of the best science-fiction books I've read so far, you should read it if you ever get the chance, it's very inspiring.

+ Various Books on Economics, Business Organizations, Service Managment, Financial Mathematics, System Engineering, etc. etc. etc. ... can't really say that I'm impressed of those, though. pinch.gif

I bought a whole carload of books by Tom Sharpe now after I borrowed "Ancestral Vices" from a friend a few months ago, and this one totally blew me away, it's hilarious, gorgeous, awesome, cruel and dingy all at the same time, Douglas Adams couldn't have done it better if he tried. The next one's "The Throwback" right now, really not bad at all, but "Ancestral Vices" was a little bit better I guess. Though it's still absolutely terrific when a doctor has to explain to a husband what connubialities/marital duties are and he just won't bloody understand biggrin.gif
