QUOTE (civilian_number_two @ Jan 9 2004, 05:53 PM)
(Technically, too, if you take the seat, that means less ass-looking, right?  So sit down, already!)

Yes! Take the seat so I can get a better look down wonderfully low cut top of yours!

Sorry civ#2 but I just couldn't resist that one.

I've had a similar experience with a friend of mine a while back. We were coming back to my car and the passenger door was the closest. My car had central locking so I unlocked the door on her side and also opened it as I proceeded to my side of the car.

As I entered the car I was then subjected to a tirade about how she was not helpless and was perfectly capable of opening a door for herself and that such behaviors was a tradition that reminded women that it is a man's world, etc, etc, etc.

Now the thing is, had we reached the car from the driver's side I would probably have never encountered this aspect of her personality because I would have just unlocked the car from my side and opened my door and she could of happily opened her own door. I'm a bit like barend on this one. I will get up off a bus seat for the elderly and the pregnant. Beyond this I no longer see the need to extend the courtesy because as you have described, it is no longer viewed as a courtesy, but more often an insult. I will still open a car door if I unlock the car from the passenger side. I'm happy to take my chances with this

I meant to say "in love", but I will go ahead and reply to your question anyway. I am cynicism.

Yeah, I can see bad spelling bothering you, Jon.

I wouldn't say I'm tone deaf, Read, just musically impaired.
