I've still got my 'spoiler free' headlights on, so I skipped all the posts in this thread but it was just on TV in the UK and I thought "sod it", and watched it.

A predictable response from me perhaps, but it was fucking wonderful. All my Christmas' came at once.

"Are you threatening me, master jedi?"

Now if thats not a piece of Star Wars dialogue that you can take to bed with you, I don't know what is.

66 days and counting (very slowly it feels like)

I hope your being sarcastic jariten, that's a really bad piece of edam cheese in that line.

the "achive a power greater than any...." line was well done and in league with the OT. The "are you seducing me" line followed by the taxi driver type lightsabre on a flip thingy was stupid as well.

YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE- second best line in the wole trailer. alot of emotion in that line.

I was being serious! That was the real 'heart stopping' moment in the trailer. It was a great, semi-serious, semi-cheap throwaway line right up there with the best of the OT dialogue.

Ok, so how would you rank that line next to, say...

"You stuck up, scruffy looking (unbearably horrible pause) nerf herder!" ?

Yep.

"I hope your being sarcastic jariten, that's a really bad piece of edam cheese in that line."

Cheese with blue hair on it.

This movie is probably going to depend on Ian's performance as I see it now, and hopefully he will be entertaining, BUT, with lines that we've seen so far, being touted as "heartstoppers" its damn laughable. Are you threatening me master Jedi? And the response should be, "Yo damn right mutherfucker, now chill and be like Fonzy...and what is Fonzy like? He's cool, so sit yo ass down and just be cool..."

The gushers are already being monumentally naive...once again...Phantom Menace trailer had me thinking it was going to be the best movie in a long time...and look what happened. Obiwan's scream at the end made me believe this Phantom Menace was going to be a badass chilling star wars film...what with Darth Maul devils flying around, and talk of genocide...and it turned out to be Roger Rabbit meets Adam West and his boy wonder tag-along, Mullet-boy. Show us the best parts first, and what do you get? You could take clips of the worst movies ever made, and make them LOOK like impressive films if you want. I just edited a piece of shit documentary, but with 1 minute and 30 seconds I can make you think it'll be the funniest shit you'll ever see, until you see it of course.

No way to judge a book by its cover, or from a few excerpts, (not to mention look at a picture of a guy and determine he's a piece of shit drug addict, you can't do psychoanalysis from photographs any more than critique films from their previews.)

Make your predictions. I would put my money on BAD as the outcome, based on track record alone. You can gamble all you want on the sick horse, because it looks healthy for once, but I'd still bet against it, knowing its medical history. Star Wars Episode III does appear to be a better film than I and II, but it may only appear to be.

I will see it. I will not spend money on it, but I will see it. I'm not going to judge the film prior to seeing in the overall sense, like some assholes who never saw Passion of Christ or Farenheit 9-11, who spout off about how fascist Passion was, or how traitorous Farenheit is, without even having seen the shit.

I'll see it, and then, as I expect, I can pan the shit for what it is, in depth, detail by detail.

If I am impressed, i'll be impressed, but I'll still say Lucas is a greedy scumbag who destroyed an entire saga with midichlorians and stolen lines from wayne's world.

If you didn't like the first two parts of a trilogy, I don't see how you're going to like the last one. Although I must admit that after reading your thoughts on TPM, I can't wait for your in depth anaysis of RotS.

You can if the final part of the trilogy contains 90% of the things that attracted you to the idea of a new trilogy in the first place.

Phanton Menace: Kids Film
Attack of the Clones: Dawson's Creek in Space

both poorly done and having nothing of interest for anyone with an emotional maturity above the age of 9.

However, this film due to the high death rate, and forboding themes will be geared more towards older viewers, thankfully.

"If you didn't like the first two parts of a trilogy, I don't see how you're going to like the last one."

I saw the first trilogy, should that mean I MUST like the second? Or in Lucas Logic, the FIRST TRILOGY(which is the current one), must be good, if the following TRILOGY(1980s)which already came out was good? ehhh....the only reason to like Phantom Clone Attacks Revenge Sith is because you unequivacally and complete worship Star Wars like a god. The Phantom Menace was a piece of shit film. The Pod Race by itself with no other criticism should prove that to you. Can you actually tell me you would sit through the fucking pod race alone and by itself? As opposed to episode 4, the death star sequence stands alone, can be watched by itself and enjoyed, and empire Strikes Back's asteroid field escape can stand alone...I don't know about ROTJ, it sucked basically, but the Emperor sequence was interesting by itself. Phantom Menace's POD RACE, nobody can sit through again, it means nothing to the ENTIRE story, is boring, contrived, annoing, irritation, plagiarized, and idiotic. (AND HE WASTED LIKE 15 minutes or more on that goddamned pod race!) Why the hell should I excuse it? No way mister, that whole story about the fucking pod race was a waste, idiotic and very UN-starwars. Who gives a shit about the rest? Alien diner cooks with 4 arms? Attack of the CLones can be blown away by that alone. That scene was rediculous, useless, moronic, and there for no other reason ONCE AGAIN for George Lucas to say..."SEE I'M THE GUY WHO MADE AMERICAN GRAFITTI." Pod Races and Diners...fuck that nonsense, its pointless. Obiwan's trip to see a character whose only appearance is to explain where the fucking dart came from could have been ANYTHING when you look at the story. You could replace that scene with anything, any character, he could have met Boushh and Lomb in there for anybody cares, the moment is dull, retarded and a complete waste of a scene and movie film. The scene could easily be cut and have Obiwan sitting in a meditation chamber and with "THE FORCE" he figures it out by himself. That would have been a bonus character development scene which would have taken less time, and been more interesting, but instead, Lucas knows he can sell at least eleven dolls and a few playsets and spaceships if he makes a "DINE R SCENE." Fuck you know its true.

Yes. Or if you thought they were good films. Which I do. I mean, no masterpieces or anything, but when was Star Wars ever that? Well, not until the 30 year old dorks started to refuse to open up the Luke Skywalker doll they'd just bought because it was collectable and calling Empire 'dark' because they wanted to feel comfortable with liking a film made for kids. The OT is as full of flaws as the PT. You could easily substitute what you wrote up there to "the only reason to like the OT is because you unequivacally and complete (ly) worship Star Wars like a god" and millions of people the world over who have always pictured Star Wars as nothing more than brainless eye candy trash would nod their heads in agreement. I personally think they're trashy films, but thats not to say that they cant be made without a spark of imagination and wit thats totally lacking in modern day big budget cinema (LOTR aside, of course). Give me TPM, flaws and all, over a million Van Helsings, XXX's, Riddicks and whatever other grey flashes of nothing that pass through cinemas these days. I'll take it. AotC too, and i'm sure, Revenge of the Sith.

As for the rest of your post, I cant be bothered to cut and paste and argue with you. Not that what you say isnt worth it, but because i'm jet lagged and tired.

The OT was a masterpiece in my humble opinion. Yes those movies have flaws, but the storyline is so compelling and the characters so well-rounded and interesting that I as a viewer am willing to over look them. The PT lacks the good storyline and interesting, likable characters (except perhaps Qui-gon Jinn) and it makes the flaws all the more obvious.

On the topic of the trailer. I saw it and for the first half it had me thinking that maybe just maybe it might be good. Then I heard the Chewie roar, saw C-3PO, and the over the top explosions and knew it was nothing, but wishful thinking. ROTS has a one-way ticket to Sucksville, home of Baron Crapanoida and his legion of yes-men.

Jariten, I hope AOTC wasn't the in-flight movie. wink.gif

If, and that's the Magic IF, isn't it? If, this ROTS meets expectations (as varied as a fingerprint,) I may be willing to accept the SW series as a four movie sequence.

I'm granting you that, OT naysayers. 65 days from now, I'll own up to my end of the deal.

OT die-hards, you know I can't be serious. tongue.gif

But I am.

Agreed. ROTS has so much going both for it and against it right now I think its too close to call. IF it reaches a ROTJ level of acceptibility I will consider ROTS the "Hobbit" prequel of of the Star Wars Trilogy.
