My first vote is for "Undergrads". It's a little Canadian-made cartoon that ran for one season on MTV and Teletoon, but has been on Teletoon for upwards of four years now. One season. Four years. And it isn't really that funny. Teletoon pulls Harvey Birdman, which is amazing, and no one says a word, but the second they take Undergrads out of their lineup everyone bitches and complains until they put it back on. AND THERE WAS ONLY ONE SEASON MADE.
Also the Simpsons just needs to quit. They're not fooling anyone anymore. It's okay to admit that they've run out of ideas, but they refuse to do so, even dipping so low as to introduce this ridiculous gay marriage thing. I know there are many Simpsons fans here, but really now, they've been on the air long enough, and it's time to quit. Personally I'd rather see more episodes of Futurama, which I feel was canned long before its time.

I think any offshoot of CSI or Law and Order need to die as well. I don't mind a spin off now and then but when you have shows like CSI: Animal Rape Unit you've gone to far. I forget when the Simpsons stopped being funny to me, but I agree that it' time to call it quits. I do wish that new episodes of Futurama would be made, I don't see why it isn't possible considering it's popularity on adult swim. Hell they brought family guy back to life based on the viewership it was getting on adult swim.

Wrong, they brought back Family Guy based on DVD sales. It's about money, not ratings. Futurama's DVDs haven't done quite as well, to the best of my knowledge.

I've been watching the Simps' first season lately (vcr tapes with vintage commercials, even an episode of Parker Lewis Can't Lose, Barend) and I just want to say the new sunday ep. fell right in line with the old. Beethoven's pastoral symphony setting for kids playing, cowabunga, don't have a cow and Bart/Lisa fighting like kids.

So I'm a fan, and I'm glad it's still on. If you don't like it, ignore it. (I don't love Raymond, but nobody asked me.) Besides, it's a flagship for Fox.

If you admittedly "jump the shark*," it's not the same. sleep.gif

(*season finale credits, three or four years ago. "We'll never stop the simpsons" to the tune of "We didn't start the fire," by billy joel. Or maybe you stopped watching by then. S'cool.)

I'm with Heccubus on The Simpsons. Most of the recent episodes I've seen have been so bad that they're putting me off the entire series. It's amazing that it stayed fresh as long as it did, but the writers ran out of good ideas long ago, and I really think it's time they moved on to something else.

The sandpeople had women and children. We know this because Anakin killed them how could he tell? The children might be smaller but I never saw a sandperson with breasts. Did they hike their skirts and show him some leg or something?

Also, I can see the point of wanting to kidnap a human and use her as a slave, but they didn't. They tied her to a flimsy easel for a month. It's assumed they had to feed and give her water. What for? Was she purely ornamental? I can understand them wanting the droids, you can sell those for a lot of money, but a chick who's only skills are finding non-existand mushrooms and getting randomly pregnant, you're not going to get much.

Hey Mad Rabbit, nice to see you back. When you have the time could you check out a subject of mine in the Screening Room, "Public Defender & the Blonde Widow", because I need some major input.

The Simpsons must go and so must That 70s Show. 70s used to be pretty funny but lately the writing sucks, the jokes way off and the actors just giving half assed performances... and it's supposed to go on for another season even though stars Topher Grace and Ashton Kutcher are leaving at the end of this season.

The fact that Laura Prepon showed up sporting blonde hair instead of her usual red was a bad omen.

For me the last really funny season of the Simpsons was the 1995-1996 season (which opened with the 2nd half of the "Who Shot Mr. Burns?" storyline). When the 1996-1997 season started I watched like any fan would, but something was different, very wrong - the show didn't seem as funny. Everything about the show seemed off: the writing was off, the jokes were off, the characterizations were off, nothing was clicking. So for me the show stopped being funny when I entered the 7th grade, aged 13.

I think that the writing remained strong and witty up until season 10. 10 had a few moments of chuckle-worthy hijinks, but for the most part they'd lost it by then.

Well maybe we could have a topic: useless forum topics that need to die.

There are some that are just mindless fluff, and I deal with it by not reading certain threads.
If you don't like the Simps, don't watch it. It's not hurting anyone.

But yeah, this IS the place for you all to groan about how bad the Simpsons has become, so I won't pretend otherwise.

I will, however, defend it as I did upon it's release.

I never like Parker Lewis, due to its superficial resemblance to the better yet underrated feature film Three O'Clock High. I was amused, however, that it was the inspiration for a short-lived, back-in-time, Dobie-Gillis-inspired tv show based on Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

Anyway: Shows that should die include America's Next Top Model and The Apprentice. The former was never good (the girls didn't have one pillow fight!), while the latter jumped the shark early into this recent season when Don Trump took credit for an event that has been the stuff of Urban Legend for more than fifty years.

I concur that the Simpsons started going downhill around season 10 or so. I curse you from the very bottom of my heart, Ian Maxtone Graham... I consider myself a Simpsons fan, but you can be a fan and say that the new episodes suck. I haven't watched a new episode in two years, for a while I stayed faithful on the foolish hope that they'd get some good writing back, but no.

Other shows that must die: Any currently running saturday morning cartoon show, especially those based on characters that were popular when my generation was young. Where was the Kirby show when I was 8, fuckers? Also all reality television, made for TV anime... Hmm... I stopped watching television regularly when I realized it was utter shit. Now I just watch the Daily Show and Adult swim at night, so I'm low on TV shows to hate.

I actually like the new Simpsons(new refering to the last four years or so). I don't see them very often, so that may be a part of it, but I found the humour got quite a bit more random as time went on. And to be honest, I don't think the first 2 seasons were very good at all. That being said, I haven't seen them for years.

Destroy all reality shows. That's all I have to say.

What about a reality show based on Chefelf forums and it's valued members?

Despondent, there's no reason to get so touchy. It's just a TV show. You still like The Simpsons, and that's fine. No one directly said that there was anything wrong with still enjoying it. I do ignore it. I don't watch it anymore, that would be why I said that I stopped watching it.
