QUOTE (Chefelf @ Mar 11 2005, 10:00 PM)
As far as the Simpsons:  I agree with Despondent.  I haven't watched it in years but I don't really care that they're still making it.  Why not still make it?  They're still doing great in the ratings and making an assload of money.  What would cause them to want to stop any of that?  Would you stop if you were in their position?  It's easy to say that you would.

Well, it's a bit like the Star Wars prequels. It's true that nobody forces me to watch the newer episodes, but they tarnish the old ones for me and make me think less of the show as a whole. Also, I can't help thinking that all that money could be better spent on something new and original. No, it doesn't surprise me that they continue to make it when it's such a cash cow - but the question is what they should do, not what they will do.

The sandpeople had women and children. We know this because Anakin killed them how could he tell? The children might be smaller but I never saw a sandperson with breasts. Did they hike their skirts and show him some leg or something?

QUOTE
Also, I can see the point of wanting to kidnap a human and use her as a slave, but they didn't. They tied her to a flimsy easel for a month. It's assumed they had to feed and give her water. What for? Was she purely ornamental? I can understand them wanting the droids, you can sell those for a lot of money, but a chick who's only skills are finding non-existand mushrooms and getting randomly pregnant, you're not going to get much.

I see your point but I don't think its exactly fair to compare them to the Star Wars prequels. The Simpsons, to me, has just sort of run its course and fizzled out whereas the Star Wars films have seemed to make a 180 and contradict themselves.

The second I stop liking a TV show, I usually question why it's still around. TV was made for me, and me alone. smile.gif

Well... that explains alot then... :-D

Seriously though, you people actually hated shows because you didn't like other people that liked them? I mean no offense, but that was always absurd to me in school. I stopped hanging around with people like that because the entire concept baffled me so much. As soon as the 'uncool' people wore a shirt with a band on it that one of them liked, suddenly no one could like it anymore. And God forbid if you liked something that another social group did... I don't know, maybe I was forced to socially mature faster in school because I was an outcast or something?

I didn't like friends because it was based off of the standard, formula: put a bunch of different people together and see what happens, and lets mix a little stereotypical 'emotional content' and some wacky situations! It got old really fast, though the duck in the apartment was badass, I'll admit.

Edit: Castellaneta did EWJ's voice in the N64 game I could never find? Sweet!

I thought Friends was pretty funny. I didn't really like the first few seasons or the last few, for that matter, but a lot of the stuff inbetween was good. I haven't watched The Simpsons all that much in the last couple of years, but I'm sure it's still funnier than most of the stuff on tv. As for Parker Lewis, that show ruled!! Almost as good as Herman's Head. Granted, I think I liked a lot of shows back then.

From what I hear, That 70's Show is on its last legs. It should be, anyway, It's almost 1980:P

I already dislike Andy Dick's new show, and anything involving Paris Hilton equals televised torture. I try to avoid most Network Television, as it's already presumed to be aweful. tongue.gif

As for the Simpsons, I noticed it's decline in hilarity a few years ago. I oinly remember several episodes from last season, and most of them had some family member going to prison...

I remember Wings. That show had one set!

Dinosaurs was a good TV show, I think it ran only a couple of seasons.

Only a couple of seasons? I'm surprised! I used to watch that every week when I was really little!
Check out my crappy drawings!

I wish I still had my "Dinosaurs" figures. I've been dying for a re-enactment of one of the many "Not the mama! *hits head with frying pan*" scenes.

How could you not remember "Wings"? It made up 80% of the USA Network's programming for 10 years!

I had the Dinosaurs figures too. The bad thing was, once their torsos came off, they NEVER went back on...

WHEEL

OF

FORTUNE!!

Have you even seen the categories they come up with?

And for the daytime crowd, The Price is Right. Two of their Announcers have bit it ("Come on Downnn") but Bob plugs on. I suppose it does bring a lot of joy to it's faithful viewers. Let it stand. (And a friend of mine from college was on the showcase recently.)

Family Feud.

That guy from home improvement. I don't like him. I'm sure he's a nice person, but that show is haunted and he needs to protect himself.
