IT would be interesting to see you guys go register and debate the prequels at tfn. You guys are a smart bunch and I would like to see if they could refute your arguements. Wheres the harm in trying? Just ignore the immature kids and attack the mods and "oldbies" hmmmmm come on guys go go go

TFN? The forum where people discuss the colors of lightsabers in episode III more fervently than plot and characters? The longest threads running have names like "A Social Countdown v3.2" and "Babes of the PT"? I think a debate issuing from members here might be lost on them.

The TFN crowd has usually been pretty cold towards me (I wonder why rolleyes.gif). I respect them and the fact that they are fans but it is frustrating when people respond with things like, "Yeah, well you're an idiot."

It is in my nature to support any site where people overanalyze something stupid like Star Wars. I say this in all seriousness and respect. I love Star Wars, but it's really dumb to spend so much time thinking about it and talking about it. I am guilty of it but I recognize this. I think that's why I don't get so worked up about it. When you realize just how dumb all this really is I think it allows you to have a much more laid back attitude towards all of it.

It still boggles my mind that people get so upset about any of this. It baffles me that people can jump on any criticism and shout at people and it baffles me that people will also just post, "Star Wars sucks, you are all idiots for liking it!" It's so much more fun to analyze it closely and see both sides openly.

That's why jariten is so much fun. I will never see things from his point of view but I have an unending respect for him. He comes here and speaks calmly about his opinions, no matter how unpopular they are in this particular arena. I'm sure that we would get along just fine if we were to meet in real life. I'd love to go see ROTS with him. wink.gif

No thanks, I'm not the type to get into long debates/flamewars on this sort of thing...

Been there, done that. Debating gushers doesn't yield much interesting debate, especially when they're busy beating you up for daring to express a divergent opinion. I see much better debates between those critical of the PT; even they don't agree on everything, and they're more pleasant about it.

I'd sooner call the Rush Limbaugh show and try to attempt talking sense into him.

Great point Hannibal, though Rush Limbaugh might be an easier sell than some of them.

I don't think they respond to rational argument. Rather we should use our superior vocabulary and knowledge of psychology to produce better and more pointed insults, so they'll all develop eating disorders...

Isn't usetheforce the guy who said he was leaving because he got so mad reading the messages that he wanted to hit something?

That's pretty darn mad considering we're talking here about a bunch of movies. If tfn is a place where Star Wars lovers like to gather and gush, more power to em. I don't give a crap if someone likes a dumb movie. What would I accomplish by going over there and pointing out the flaws in the movies they love? Certainly not stimulating conversation I would venture to bet.

Thanks a lot for saying that, that really made my day smile.gif

As for TFN, I think the main problem is that most of the posters are kids (or they write like them) so its hard to get anything decent going without it deteriorating into insults. Although the TPM board was kind of funny in the summer of '99.
