I was wondering if anyone's dislike of the Prequel Trilogy has ruined their memories of the Original Trilogy-- or if the final nail in the coffin is the refusal of Lucas to re-release the OOT onto DVD.

For me, the PT really, really shook my love of Star Wars, and I've wondered if anyone else had a similar experience...

TPM put a horrible taste in my mouth, but to be quite honest I never felt like I was watching a prequel to Episodes four, five and six. Just some horribly done Star Wars parody. Ditto AOTC....So no, the SE of the OT and the PT haven't ruined the Star Wars and Empire for me.

If anything the horrible way Return was handled did the most damage. And the fact that bastard wont release the unaltered OT on DVD

the originals weren't ruined for me until I saw hayden inexplicably at the end of return of the jedi. there's just no escape from thinking about the prequels when that happens. it's such a bad excuse for getting something from the prequels into the OT for the sake of a needless connection. I guess nothing other than doing something as blatant as that would suffice since the gap in quality is so massive between the two trilogies.

The shitty prequels made me question Return of the Jedi more. I now see it as an average movie as opposed to a great one like I did years ago. ANH and ESB are still and always will be great movies, in my mind.

the only good thing left about the SW universe is KOTOR

the only thing i don't like about that is that it is ment to be set 10000years earlier... which means they haven't come a long way...

I can't stand seeing Ian McDiarmid in ESB. I want Clive Revill back!

I don't think I'll ever completely loose my love for the old trilogy. At least, not while I still have copies of it as it originally appeared.

I use to watch the OOT quite frequently. The PT's and the SE's certainly has ruined my tastes for the OOT. Sadly now, I begin to the faults of the OT more and more, or they are more magnified, I should say.

Damn Lucas, and double damn him.

All I know is I haven't seen the real prequels yet.

Ruined by the PT? No. But the SE's are a completely different matter. Hayden at the end of RotJ destroys so much more than just that scene. (Thank God it wasn't ANH or ESB though) The feelings Luke might have for his dad, even though he was a genocidal tyrant, are swept away by Haydens smug smirk. And it leaves a bit more than a foul taste in your mouth... yell.gif

Barend: KOTOR is set 4000 years before the PT by the way. The Star Wars galaxy is timeless in that sense. It doesn't evolve like regular Sci Fi, it's a fantasy remember smile.gif While I wrote that last sentence, KOTOR II for Xbox actually just dropped in through my front door mailbox! biggrin.gif It's gonna be a good week!

I just pretend they never happened. I don't consider them the true story behind the OT, simply because it could be done so much better.

Yes, I tend to simply ignore the prequels as well. After all, there are so many blatant contradictions between the PT and the OT that you pretty much have to reject one of them as 'untrue'. It's not so easy with the SEs, unfortunately...

The sandpeople had women and children. We know this because Anakin killed them how could he tell? The children might be smaller but I never saw a sandperson with breasts. Did they hike their skirts and show him some leg or something?

Also, I can see the point of wanting to kidnap a human and use her as a slave, but they didn't. They tied her to a flimsy easel for a month. It's assumed they had to feed and give her water. What for? Was she purely ornamental? I can understand them wanting the droids, you can sell those for a lot of money, but a chick who's only skills are finding non-existand mushrooms and getting randomly pregnant, you're not going to get much.

"Has the PT ruined the OT for you?"

No.

Maybe a miracle will occur and RotS will make 1 and 2 magically better for you and then you'll...ok i'll shut up.

Hello chaps,

You know when you watch a DVD and they show all the dumb stuff that was edited from the movie? Just think of all the PT plus SE dumb stuff as "possible alternatives that were rightfully thrown in the bin", and you can keep your sanity. When you watch the parts you don't like, close your eyes and click your heels together 3 times...

Yeah it ruined it for me. I can't think about the OT without the PT bullshit getting in the way...
