I don't really know much about it other than the basic idea they've given and that The Scarecrow will be the villain. That, I'm dubious about. Wasn't The Joker supposed to be THE First Enemy of Batman? This story would definitely be before The Joker comes about, so that's bugging me a little.

Note: I honestly don't know very much about the continuity of Batman at all. I'm just a newbie Joker fan who's done a bit of research on the one character.

My computer doesn't seem to want to cooperate with the trailer...

Its based on batman's Year 1 story that was written by the great Frank Miller. Technically there is no supervillian in that story, it is about both Batman's and Commissioner Gordon's beginnings in Gothom fighting the corrupt system. It ends with them Gordon meeting with Batman to handle some new character named "the Joker" who threatened to poison the cities water supply.

It looks like they spend a great deal of time in this film showing how Batman got his training and how he developed things like his fighting style, costume, Batmobile, etc. Real origin stuff.

Maybe they finally learned...

The comic book ends with the Joker reference, I have no clue how the movie ends...

I saw the Superbowl TV spot for Batman Begins and it looks pretty cool, but I'm not so sure I dig the Batmobile being a tank (even though that's probably what it always was, in a way).

Well, I think we can be pretty sure it won't end with the Joker threatening to poison the city's water supply... dry.gif

Just out of curiosity, when did Jonathan Crane make his first appearance?

Ooh, wait, I just saw somewhere that Ras Al Ghul's supposed to be the main villain. And since I know almost nothing about him and there seems to be a good reason for him to be there, that's not bugging me nearly as much.

NOTE: Too late to add this in an edit...

Just as long as it's nothing like Batman & Robin. Christ, that was an awful film.

What for? Was she purely ornamental? I can understand them wanting the droids, you can sell those for a lot of money, but a chick who's only skills are finding non-existand mushrooms and getting randomly pregnant, you're not going to get much.

(*winces*)

I know all the movies have disregarded certain canon elements for the most part, but my god... Even with my limited knowledge, I can still look on and say "What the fuck was that?!"

(If I know anything about it at all, I will follow canon like a fundamentalist follows the bible.)

I didn't really pay much attention to anything else the last time I glanced in its direction, really...or it was just so crappy I blocked it out. I'm not sure.

That singlehandedly torpedoed the franchise for the next 10 years. Let's have 14 super villians, robin, Batgirl and george Clooney as Batman...this can't fail!

This one appears to go back to the Frank Miller darker/origin stuff which I applaud.

Oddly enough I know I went to see Batman and Robin (I still have a ticket stub) but I remember nothing about it, If fact, even the pages from my diary\schedule for that day are missing. The only clues I have regarding it's content is my sudden developement of Touretts whenever Joel Schumacher's name is mentioned.

I'm looking forward to the new movie though, from what I've seen Bale looks like a good choice for the dark knight.

Incidently Jane, try tracking down the batman of the future animated movie for some amusing joker related stuff. I know it's way off topic with the comic books. but there's some good lines in there.

You mean Batman Beyond? I keep seeing stuff about it, but for some reason I'm not liking the idea of it much...

Had a really over stylised look to the characters. Pretty cool stuff if you're skiving classes all day. Took some heavy libertys with the original material though.

The 90's animated series was great, I loved the heavy edged gothic artwork, keep the feel of Tim burtons movie. Violent too for a cartoon. Another part of my mispent youth for me to track down methinks.
