So would that be "M.T.?"

Come on Movie-goer, you can understand Spielberg's commercial appeal: Bad government agents against children of virtue; introducing Drew Barrymore; A "good" alien; flying bikes; a few edgy (for kids) curse words. Cursory SW references.

It was a friendly Jaws for the next generation.

-but that doesn't mean you have to accept it or agree with it. smile.gif

E.T. meant a little more to me when I was 8 than it does now. Of course, I can't stand the whole replacing the FBI rifles with walkie-talkies.

ELLIOT: "Oh no! The Feds are gonna bludgeon us to death with their all powerful, multi-purpose walkie-talkies! Save us, ET!"
ET: "Beeeee calm, you sissy."

Sorry I know that's off topic.

Well, unlike the PT, ET really is for kids. Every kid loves having a secret friend that no one else knows about, wishes his bike could fly, and thinks he can outsmart adults. I think the thing that makes the movie great is that adults can really enoy it too. Aw, its all about love.

My brother and I always commented on how cool an effect it was to zoom in on the clinking keys on the belts as a way to show the bad guys. For ever other reason to like ET watch I love the 80's.

For what it was, it was some of the best ever done
(and just enough- no sequel.)

In the novelization, that good-guy yet government tyrant was referred to as "Keys."

The E.T. ride at Universal is pretty tame. I went to the re-release though.

Yeah, although I did get a weird feeling of vertigo when the bike `takes off`.

if anything the prequel trilogy is more catered to everyone than the originals. When I'd talk to the so called "in-crowd" at my school about films they would either like the prequels or think they were better than the older films if they had seen them. it has to be noted that some of them were right asswipes. that's just one example of why that article is a pile of crap.

Hey fellas, Garth Vader here has found the answers....he spoke with little Timmy at his school!

Who needs research and science when you can just go to the "in crowd" at your local high school and find everything you'll ever need to know!

Say you want to find a cure for cancer, what do you do? Research? HA! Research-Scmeesearch! All you have to do is go ask your local cheerleader what SHE would do stop to the rapidly-growing tumor from eating your second lung!

This kind of idiotic anecdotal crap is precisely what I was trying to AVOID doing....and now it's being endlessly cited to "disprove" the article.

There's no law that says that you HAVE to post. If you can't actually create an idea, of if you didn't READ the article, just move on, okay?
