"Words from soldiers like yourself DISHONOR those who take that responsibility seriously. They are trained to KILL. It is a responsibility not a hobby, not a fun thing, not something to brag about and to be enjoyed."

I dishonor soldiers and marines because I love to kill, because I enjoy it? Where have i said, in any of my posts that I love me some murder! Don't twist my words around.

"You came into this group spouting about killing families and you get what you deserve, even the retarded general never suggested we kill the wife-slapper's wife."

I stated that I would take exactly what they took from me. It would be okay for them to take my family, but I have to turn the other cheek? This is a moot point anyway. I was referring to Hammurabi's code you shallow and blind fool. I am sorry I chose to be a bit more original in my posts than going the route of liberally borrowing someone elses words to do the speaking for me.

Whoa whoa whoa!!!! Somebody turn down the thermostat. Cool it down, guys, you've descended into a big ole' flame war.

Although Hammurabi's code isn't a very just system. You kill someone's family so they get to kill yours? What did that person's family due to deserve your wrath?

Edit: (sp?)

Well, the families of the terrorists fed the papa terrorist before he got in the plane, so therefore, they must be chopped up in little pieces and put into MREs and only after they've been raped and had all their blood drained from their bodies....oh and it must all be videotaped for personal enjoyment.

P.S. Is that shallow enough for you?

i respect the soldiers who fought for the right of people who wanted freedom. i respect the the sacrifice of those who left their lives and families to protect those who could not defend themselves.

but, i would like to know what noble cause was the catalist for the use of agent orange. crop dusted over acres and miles of civillian territory, causeing generations of birth defects, abnormalities, and mutations in viatnamese farmers, workers, families.

who's legacy did it serve to destroy their lives?

hiroshima? how many military instilations where there? what purpose did those civilain souls serve as melted corpses and lukemia victims in generations to come?

don't get me wrong, i have freinds who are soldiers. but the US has a lot to answer for in the numbers crunched under the great war machine that is america. they cannot be defended...

and nor can any individual soldier personally answer for it.

and when i see interviews with soldiers asking why they are in Iraq, after seeing so much needless damage, it gives me some faith that humanity can still be obtained under the worst leadership!

but i think people have a right to be angry about this bullshit...
and enjoying killing civilians is not fucking right!!!

What's all this about killing civillians? It's like saying water is wet. Ok, we all get it, it's bad to killing innocent people.

The point this general was trying to make, or maybe I was trying to make, is that getting a high out of killing enemy troops is not that big a deal. You see it all the time in movies, you hear it from impromtu interviews with soldiers, you see it in those Desert Storm video recordings of pilots after they shoot a mig out of the sky "oh boy, I got one". Does that make them sadistic? Maybe latter on in life they might reflect on it and have different feelings. But in the moment, in the heat of battle I don't think it's perverse for soldiers to grab a thrill from killing the enemies. It's probably natural. Most of you believe in evolution, view it as your primordial instinct. And in the heat of the moment, you're probably going to fall back on your most primitive instincts.

If I was in a war, and had people shooting at me, I'd probably shoot back, and if I killed one, at the time, I'd probably feel a sense of accomplishment, since that is why I'm out there. That is war, kill the enemy.

I'm not sure why every one is getting all touchy about it. You can't implement peace time values in war time (especially in the middle of a fucking battle). And if soldiers like bragging about all the frags they get, then whatever, their lives suck, let them take pride in something.

And again, you can't jump and say that they'd also love killing civillians. It's silly. I've heard more cases of Insurgents and 'freedom fighters' killing innocent blood then I have of American soldiers. But I'm sure it's all a cover up. Let's all speculate.

QUOTE
You have no idea what I have done for my country, What sacrafices my brothers and sisters have made for this country. It is great that you know people and have talked to people, wonderful. Remember the people who died for the right to speak freely. The very right you seem use generously. I fought for my country, because my commander told me to.

Hey man, the people I was marching with in DC are fighting for our country and fighting to save the lives of our soliders and some innocent Iraqis. The people at Kent State died fighting for their country, and guess what, noone had to tell them to do it!

QUOTE
JM, educate me on who the insurgents are. Are they the leftovers off Saddams regime, terroists from ohter countries, or just random civilians that don't like the US.

The terrorists are Saudis and Syrians. Perhaps 10-20% max of the fighters in Iraq are foreign. The other eighty percent are Iraqis, largely Sunnis and some of them are indeed former Baath party. However there are also various Shiite freedom fighters as well adn tehy are allied with the Sunni resistance such as when they aided the great city of Faluja before the US massacred it.

QUOTE
Abu Ghraib is the only thing I can think of and they do not represent the whole millitary. Has one of these "Storm troopers" ever just shot , killed, or captured random IRaqi civilians of the street because of their evil ways.

Iraqis are shot EVERY SINGLE DAY at checkpoints for no reason than that they drive too fast. Bombs fall on Iraqi homes at least once a week. Iraqis die of malnutrition, dysentary, or other ailments due to the coalitions inability to provide water or food. 100000 Iraqis are dead. 365 days to a year 3 years of occupation thats what eighty Iraqis murdered a day? There couldnt have been 100000 insurgents so who do you think most of that number are? Civilians, asshat. And theres also horrendous torture going on at Guantanamo and bases in Afghanistan and that IS representative of the whole military, it is not just a few bad apples.

QUOTE
The topic at hand is the General's comment. I think if Soldiers, of any nation, get a high out of killing 'bad guys' then what of it?

Because it desensitizes them to death of others who are affiliated with the "bad guys" remember when American soldiers used to murder whole villages of Indians because they were all "savages"? That lable didnt only apply to the men, Jordan, and its obviously the same in Iraq.

QUOTE
It's a moral booster.

Morale booster Jordan, the word is MORALE. There's an E on it. Using a different word in that sentence was completely wrong and made you look like an idiot.

QUOTE
I mean, if they enjoy it, does that make them evil? Does it mean they would enjoy killing innocent civillians? I'm not making that leap.

I already references that if I enjoy killing a fly thats bothering me whats to stop me from killing a fly that isnt bothering me. Answer that.

QUOTE
I say bin Laden is dead, and he is Goldstein. We are at war with the terrorists of the Middle East. We have always been at warwith the terrorists of the Middle East. We are five grams above last year's chocolate ration.

I note this because it bears a resemblance to one of Jordan's posts coming up.

QUOTE
With the situation in Iraq, I couldn't see the enemies the US are fighting now, being firends in a different situation. Insurgents will always hate Americans. They feel the Yanks invaded them, and hate them for it. It's a war based on pure hate. So I can see them enjoying the death count.

America is at war with the insurgents. America will always be at war with the insurgents. Jordan, I'm glad to see you've been attending the two minutes hate.

I also thoroughly agree with Barend. America commits horrific acts of aggressive genocide and has for the past fifty years. The BPP and the Black Bloc and the Young Lords party do more to protect freedom than the US army does.

Also, one thing we should all notice. This general asshole has NEVER shot anyone. I promise. Hes full of it. He dosnt "brawl" hes wearing fucking stars! The asshole is a general! Where does he get off trying to act like he's EVER seen combat?

sure... if i were in a combat situation with my adrenal glands keeping me high sure i'd be lying if i said i wasn't 'getting into it'

that's what it is to be human... we're built for combat.
but if i were out in the middle of nowhere pulling guys out of their home just cause they were "of military age" and detaining them and torturing them.

edit: jm posted at the same time and beat me...

It's not a matter of right and wrong. If side A is one team and side B is another, I would not be shocked to here that Side A get's a thrill out of killing side B in the heat of battle. Fuck the indians and iraqis, the US and all the rest.

It's human nature. It's adrenaline. You can't fight it.

You people are so immature. Hannibal and JM insult me left and right. I'm an idiot JM? I can't spell? Ya, lets play that game.

I'm sick of this crap. I no longer derive joy from this. I dont' need to be insulted online. I can get that from my customers at work.

I said it makes you LOOK LIKE an idiot Jordan. I was trying rather hard not to be insulting but I'm sure you can recognize that it reflects badly on ones intelligence to say that killing people benefits morals.

Very well, I rescind that statement. You all are right it was an unfair way to take advantage of an opponent.
