Hm, interesting. So The Beatles, Nirvana, Pink Floyd, and David Bowie seem to be on most peoples lists...

Uh, I haven't listened to enough music (many of the bands on your lists I have never heard, or heard of.), find it hard to pick favorites in most everything, and I don't ever remember every single song I listen to, or like anything that happened longer than ten minutes ago, really.

However, I can safely say that I would rather die than listen to Dave Mathews Band. Sorry Aragorn...

PS is it a bad thing to mention that I've never heard of any of the bands mentioned by Heccubus apart from The Beatles?

Hey guys. Sorry for not playing by the rules back there. It just pains me to leave a lot of those albums off the 'ol "All-time favs" list. But that's a bad excuse. Here, all better:

Miles Davis - Bitches Brew (and also his stuff with Herbie Hancock and co.)
the Shaggs - Philosophy of the World
The Velvet Underground - VU&N (today)
Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band - Trout Mask Replica
honorable mention - Free Design - "Stars/Time/Bubbles/Love")

70's
Brian Eno - Another Green World
Neu! - Neu! 75
Genesis - Foxtrot
Black Sabbath - Paranoid
Television - Marquee Moon
(honoarble mention = Teenage Jesus and the Jerks - "Everything")

80's
Motorhead - No Sleep 'til Hammersmith
Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation (although i'm really diggin' their first two)
Swell Maps - Jane From Occupied Europe
Glenn Branca - Symphony No. 5
Meat Puppets - Up on the Sun
(honorable mention = Talking Heads)

90's
Naked City - s/t
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
Gastr Del Sol - Camofleur
the Flaming Lips - the Soft Bulletin (or Clouds Taste Metallic)
Mouse on Mars - Niun Niggung
(honorable mention = Pavement)

Destroyer - Your Blues
Radiohead - Kid A
The Streets - A Grand Don't Come For Free
(honorable mention = Stereolab - "Margerine Eclipse")

I refuse to pick just 5.
I love all my 700+ CDs
well except for this one.. but they were giving away a tron arcade machine...
And.. this other one because I bought it by accident, the name was close to the name of a band I heard on the radio, but only sort of heard...

Other than that.

Oh, and I can only take so much of the Boredoms, but I like parts of their stuff.

I didn't expect to see so much cool music on a star wars forum! Maybe I'm not as cool as I though.. crying.gif

Ok just kidding, kind of.

Five all-time albums? argh.. I'll do by personal taste, not by musical significance or social impact or any of that shit. haha

The Who - Live at Leeds
Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation
Talking Heads - More Songs About Buildings and Food
Fugazi - End Hits
Blue Cheer - Vincebus Eruptum/OutsideInside. (haha I cheated)

Those are albums I really love all the way through..

My five favorite newer bands..
Dead Meadow
Sonic Youth
Radiohead
Fugazi
Mudhoney

All-time favorites:
Neil Young
The Who
Bob Dylan
Sonic Youth
Talking Heads
Radiohead
Ramones
Blue Cheer

It's so hard for me to make these lists, but I listen to so much music. I'll never be able to figure it out. People will ask what I like and I'll shrug, but then I was a dj at the university for a while and never had trouble filling up 3-hour-slots with different stuff, and I have quite a bit of music. Haha whatever.

I'm sure I'm leaving out lots, but this killed some time and got some of my favorites on there.

PROPS to you guys for the MC5, Iggy, Radiohead, Sonic Youth, Mission of Burma, Yo La Tengo
