This will start off being just about all-time, all-around favs, but you can be creative with your lists.
Anywho, guess i better list mine. I'm a very indecisive person, so i have to list my favorite albums within 15 year... things.... Here goes:

Top 5 albums (1988-2003)
5.Nirvana - In Utero
4.My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
3.The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots
2.Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation
1. >to be filled in later<
(special mention goes to Bjork, Stereolab... Puffy (Ami Yumi)... umm... etc)

Top 5 albums (1973-1987)
5.Zappa+Mothers - Roxy+Elsewhere (very VERY honourable mention to Joe's Garage Acts I-III)
4.the Ramones - Rocket to Russia
3.Jeff Beck - Blow by Blow
2.Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
1.Neil Young and Crazy Horse - Tonights the Night (honourable mention to his entire 70's catalogue)

Top 5 albums (1963-1972)
5.Frank Zappa + MOI - Burnt Weeny Sandwich (with super-honourable mention going to Uncle Meat and all other MOI releases AND Hot Rats)
4.The Who - Who's Next
3.Jimi Hendrix Experience - Electric Ladyland
2.the Beatles - Revolver
1.>to be filled in later<

phew. Well, i hope that gets the ball rolling.

Disclaimer: All lists by me are indefinitive and do not neccessarily reflect the choices i'd make in a correct state of mind. Also, none are listed in any particular order (unless otherwise specified)

EDIT: i was looking at this today and flinched at a few of my selections, so i'm changing them. Changes will be highlighted in bold. P.S. it's still a crappy list.

There is no way I could decide a real top five list, but these are currently the top five albums I'd be most excited to listen to right now completely biased toward my mood.

1.) Pinback~Blue Screen Life
2.) Sigur Ros~()
3.) A Perfect Circle~Thirteen Steps
4.) Radiohead~The Bends
5.) Krishna Das~Breath of the Heart

Rolling Stone gave Violator two stars? Pity it was one of their top 500 Albums of all time then! They did the same thing with the Stooges. Called them "boring" when they came out, then all three of their studio albums showed up on that chart.

Rock critics/journalists are the shit of the earth. If i ever end up in that line of work you know i really f***ed up bad.

Anyway, most people answered the Top 5 Albums thing... can anyone think of their top 10-20 favorite songs? or think of a better list-question relating to music?

and Beers, Steers and Queers was released in 1990, but you don't hear me not complaining!!!

yeah, well... i got it imported in 2002, and the clip for 'new noise' was playing here around that time aswell, so from where i sit it's a 00s release.

it's an audio time zone thing...
