CN2: good point... but i'm not questioning chefelfs discretion... i'm just sad that so many jokes are lost...

like that wookie fucker one... and someone posted an image of jaquin phoenix in gladiator doing the thumb down thing...

i laughed my ass off...

but i suppoise you're right...
but at the same time, it's not like those involved forget... you don't need to quote to revitalize an old argument.

QUOTE (civilian_number_two @ Jan 30 2005, 01:01 PM)
That said, I figure no matter when you close a thread like that, you're giving someone the last word, and you're leaving all the inflammatory junk there for people to mine when starting new threads.  So "closing" threads wouldn't stop anyone from copying and pasting and starting flame wars elsewhere.

Perfectly put. If something has errupted into a flame war you can't really close it without letting someone have the last word. I find that removing it from existence is the only real way to discourage such activity. Otherwise, the person with the last word will get to go back to his post, pour himself a snifter of brandy, light a cigar, and relive the genius of the time he said, "Oh yeah, well you're a FAG!" to sk8erman69.

Ah yes... I believe that may have been the last "Guest" post. wink.gif

I would just like to say that I rather like some of Heccubus's last words on topics before he's removed them. Gives me a laugh.

To ressurrect a long-dead thread here, I had no idea this was such a big deal. Seriously, editing your past posts during flamewars is a seriously wanky thing to do. It's the most basic nettiquette, like not kicking people in the shins when you meet them, or not running over their pet shi tzu and nailing it to their door. Obviously I'm only accountable for one forum (and only partially accountable at that), but I'm more concerned that people posting freely here are actually inclined to do this than I am about the editing issue itself. I suggest wholescale banning.

MASS BANNING

It could be a religious cleansing experience.

That's like NightLife Genocide. You'd probably get rid of me if you were in charge.

Rhubarb shares my dream of purging the morons from society. She's just more vocal about it.
