Holy smokes! That looks mighty fine! The Google ad looks much better incorporated into the image like that.

Why thank you. When I saw this subject line I thought it would be saying that the image didn't work in a certain browser. Glad you guys like it. smile.gif

There's a little too much blank space on the right top of the image but that is left open for planned link images that will be popping up there in the future (I hope).

Overall this makes the forum much more compact as that giant leaderboard Google ad under the member bar was stretching things much taller than they needed to be. smile.gif

I may make the star background appear across the entire forum (on the sides and bottom) but I haven't got around to it yet.

Let me know if anyone has any ideas. I'm always open to suggestions. smile.gif

I don't know about anybody else, but I get a line throught the moon. Other then that, it's quite nice.

Ah yes, good old Internet Explorer. For some reason Internet Explorer can never quite seem to handle headers in IPB. I think it may be because IE sucks, but I'm still doing research.

The line kinda makes it look like the Death Star. NEAT!

Yeah, I noticed the line through the moon. Curse you Internet Explorer! The only reason I'm using it is because I'm at school. This is probably the first time I've touched this browser since August. I miss my precious Opera.

It's like that crushed leaf paper. Bravo, Chefelf!

I don't know if it's ever been mentioned, but your logo font is a lot like that which STARLOG magazine uses. Bonus points! smile.gif

The background is filled with star-spangled goodness now. I dunno. It's a start, I suppose. I would like to revamp the skin graphics as well but it's an awful lot of work. tongue.gif

I guess there are some similarities with Starlog. I hadn't noticed before. smile.gif

Actually, I dislike the google ad in there. I'll agree it's more asethetic, but at the same time seems more pushy. Like the cold undead fingers of internet advertising are clawing their way further into our way of life. But if you have to have a google ad on every page, I can't think of a better place to stick it.

Also, I loved that Chrismas banner. The California Raisin action figure just made me laugh every time I read "Merry Christmas, Knuckleheads!" I just never got around to saying that until just now.
This space for rent. Inquire within.

I definitely see your point. I was just trying to save a little space because the ad being ni the main body pushed the forums down a lot. I'm certainly open to any suggestions for placement.

Thanks, man. I was hoping that that would bring some joy into everyone's holiday.

Since we have so much space on either side of the actual message board, would it make sense to place the ad alongside it with the vertical banners?

I like it the way it is. If you put the ads on the side, then you'll always see them as you scroll down the forum pages. As they are, you only have to see them momentarily. You scroll down slightly and you can't see them anymore.

Also, the ads really aren't too intrusive. And sometimes, I entertained by the way they so directly target what goes on the threads. I mentioned tuna casserole in one of my posts one day and suddenly, there was an ad for canned tuna on top of the page. Pretty weird, hey? That google-bot is spying on me.

But I digress. I think the ad display at the top of the page is fine, Chefelf.
