"And everyone else. I hope you appreciate what Chefelf did. He watched the Star Wars DVDs so we didn't have to."

He almost sounds like Jesus now. I wonder if Jesus would watch the specialer edition for our sins...

There was a site selling these OOT DVDs that was up a while back. I think it was a site based out of China, where you can get away with things like that. Sadly they were shut down. Go figure.

(As an aside, it's pretty easy to find DVD burns of this set.)

A bit of info that I had randomly stored up:
At one point the Ewoks were exactly what you mentioned, Chefelf. They fought savagely, and there is a very rare trading card floating around that shows two Ewoks attacking a Storm Trooper. If I remember correctly, they're biting and clawing like nobody's business! It'd be neat, but kind of disturbing, to see something like that happen onscreen, rather than some fwuffy wittle teddy bears beating up on the big mean Storm Troopers, though.

You can't really blame HC.  He signed a contract.  It's not like he could say "No, I will not do it, I don't agree with your artistic vision."  He has to do it.  If he'd refused there would be someone else playing Anakin in Episode III.

But wouldn't we all be happier with someone else playing Anakin in Episode III?

Oh who am I kidding, Episode II would have sucked regardless of who was playing Anakin, Episode III would suck even if they were to replace him.

Sorry, Chefelf, but I have to take issue with you regarding the Ewoks. No amount of savagery or guerilla-style tactics could possibly make up for the fact that they're frickin' teddy bears. A primitive army, fair enough (Wookiees would have been fine, for example), but a primitive army made up of cuddly little fuzzy-wuzzy teddies: no. Just no.

The sandpeople had women and children. We know this because Anakin killed them how could he tell? The children might be smaller but I never saw a sandperson with breasts. Did they hike their skirts and show him some leg or something?

Also, I can see the point of wanting to kidnap a human and use her as a slave, but they didn't. They tied her to a flimsy easel for a month. It's assumed they had to feed and give her water. What for? Was she purely ornamental? I can understand them wanting the droids, you can sell those for a lot of money, but a chick who's only skills are finding non-existand mushrooms and getting randomly pregnant, you're not going to get much.

There's a part of me that really wants to hate the Ewoks, and there's another part of me that refuses to hate the Ewoks... maybe it's because I have a fondness for bears, I don't know.

Like you Chef, I was given the New DVD collection by my parents. Over the years I gathered all the various releases of the Star Wars videos and own all of these films.I was going to break this trend by not purchasing the DVDs. Fate, however, has a sense of humour also and as such I ended up with the final piece.

I absolutely loved the selection of Nitpiks. I made sure I watched the DVDs before reading them all. There is one thing that I think should be added, but I need to double check before I fully get behind this statement. It appears that while there are credits for the 1997 release changes, no such credis have been added for the DVD changes. As such, there are now people being credited for things that no longer appear in the films, or conversely, people who have not been credited for the workthey have done for this final release. That to me is the biggest insult for all involved.

Whether you like Hayden or Temuera, they actually do not get acknowledge for their appearances in the new editions.

D'OH!

Now there's a lesson for all you kiddies why grammar & punctuation is so important. There are always nasty Civilian's lurking around to make fun of those statements made where particular attention is not paid.

Kudos to you though Civ. Well spotted! And a mini kudos to you Chef for being second. I mean really we all feel like Civ is our daddy... don't we????
