I read an article on the net. It turns out that Bush plans on Privatizing social security. Pensions and what not. He wants to it be controlled by Wall street.

This does not sound good to me. Does that mean they could then Privatize Health Care? Why the hell would any one want to do that? Wouldn't it put the US back like 50 years?

Can some one here explain to me what how this would impact things? Being a Canadian I've got good benefits and if nothing else we have a pretty damn good social security system. I know the US has a shitty one already. Would privatizing it make the system worse?

Privatisation shifts the blame, from then on, it's the company that's at fault when the social security system goes wrong. Clever old George!

I may be missing the point, but how can a company that gives away money float on the stock market? surely if there's money spare it should go to the people who need it?

He's been saying that since he was appointed President by the supreme court. But letting the corporations screw over the elderly is still too risky to do campaign-wise, so they made sure that stayed quiet until they were sure he could continue the systematic destruction of society.

That's all Bush is wanting, is a way to get his hands on more money....what a better way than to go where theres the most money.
It sucks but what do you expect...and your right, he's got four more years in office and dosn't have to worry about being re-elected so I think he's going to do what ever he wants if he knows he can get away with it.

Which we've already seen is every possible impeachable crime for a president to commit, except for getting a blowjob.

Just wait, he'll step out of line one day and end up with the mythic, yet proven, "Second Term Scandal".

Half the reason I wanted him to win the election was to see him clean up his mess then, see him crash and burn.

Instead of cleaning up his mess it seems he's only making a bigger one. Although Bush crashing and burning is a good way to put it.....I agree.

Hannibal- but when Jordan says "News Article" he's refering to something he found on MSNBC.com or CNN. When Hannibal says "News article" he's refering to something he read in an episode transcript from "The X Files" or from a man standing on a street corner and shouting random things...

Jordan- The republicans are classically in favor of making the army and government stronger and more well used while making social programs disappear. A lot of ignorant people look at them and see the waving flags and the "we'll shove a nuke up your ass and push the red button" bad-ass attitude and forget that these people are against welfare, social security, medicare, and everything else that progressive groups have worked for. (and yes, all of the aforementioned are products of the left wing, liberals communists unions democrats etc. The republicans have NEVER supported programs to help actual people )

That's pretty sad. The pride of an American or Canadian does not stem from being a military power house (what are we? Romans?) It comes from social security (and ya freedom, the word has been played out, I hate it) the feeling that you know that you're safe from dieing poor, dieing in an ally from some illness, and education for all. I'm still not fully sure what the impact of privatizing Social Security would do. I know corporations would become richer, but what happens if the stock market drops? Or crashes?

Jordan, the fact of the matter is that Bush is going to destroy social security either way. If he dosnt privatize it and auction it off (how'd you like to have Enron or Haliburton in control of your retirement?) then he's going to ruin it by inflating the national debt until something pops. And when something does break do you honestly think it will be the military or homeland security or any of the useless government agencies? No. Bush would rather let thousands go hungry and work three jobs at once in the US than have to shave one nickle off his budget for sandpaper dildos for Iraqi prisoners.

I agree, prob. by 2029 there wont be any social security.....my question is, with Bush asking for more money where will that leave the deficit? Another thing I wounder about is how long it will take us to go bankrupt will all of the spending Bush is doing?
