XIII EGM was a little off the mark...

I just beat XIII and I've got to say that EGM was a little off the mark giving this game a 6/10. It's one of the more original FPS games both in terms of story, graphics and gameplay.
It was refreshing to play a FPS with such a great range of weapons and such an interesting visual style. The level design and missions were also pretty innovative.
Just having an FPS with a cartoony style was great. The super-realistic games are getting a little stale in my opinion.

I'm very on-again/off-again with that game. There are times where I think of it and go "Man, I should rent that!" and other times when I go "It looks okay, at best." I don't know what to make of it. Sources that I tend to agree with on newer titles have dubbed it "so-so", while friends and so on are laying claim to its greatness. Erg.

Really? Well if you like FPS games it's pretty great. Smooth controls, not wishy-washy like a lot of FPS's. Plus the graphics style and plot are cool. Lots of interesting levels. At least give it a rental.

You Bastard! finishing the game before I even have the chance to play it
(Well.. since I was going to get it for the PC, and since I need a new PC, and since I need to get paid before I can get said PC, I'll forgive you.. this time.)

I'm glad that we can still be friends through something like this.

How could EGM be wrong! I grew up with that magzine. Does Sushi-x still review games?
No. Not that I've seen in a while anyway. EGM is usually pretty dead on with their reviews but they gave it sixes across the board. I can't believe it would get sixes and Sould Calibur II gets tens.

I don't really like EGM. Aside from Seanbaby's HILARIOUS section. I've only bought a few issues ever in the whole thing's history of everything, and they were only because they had some stuff in them that I really wanted to read. Plus the crosswords are fun.

I like EGM. I think it's a pretty good gaming magazine. I just think they were a little off base about XIII.
Most of their other reviews I find to be very accurate. Even if I have disagreements with the rankings.

I don't think so. I hope not!
For EGM 5 is average. So 6 is slightly above average. Still, I'd give this game a solid 8.
