Is there anything GL could pull off that would be acceptable to "classic" fans? scrap the prequels and begin anew? Class action lawsuit? Admit that it was all a hoax designed to postpone the prequels and provide monetary backing needed for a Bigger and Better Star Wars Series; when after a "well crafted experiment" he'll more ably know what to avoid? How about follow up with an alternative episode four that goes in another, Zanier direction? (it would combine continuity with the prequels and, get this, the unknown!) or simply Never be heard from (professionally that is--I wish you no harm) again?

Or, maybe I have it all wrong. Was there anything about Eps 1 or 2 that you find worthwhile which haven't been blasted to pieces yet? I couldn't think of any. Except for the vader breathing sound at the last part of Episode 1's closing credits. that was kind of cool.

Really? I missed that totally!

I dunno. The only thing I can think of was the shadow of Anakin in Ep2 that made him look like Vader. Had they not focused the camera directly at it and merely had it in the background that would have been a really great shot. I'd just much prefer noticing a subtlety like that after the fifth or sixth viewing rather than having it crammed right down my throat the first time I saw it. It lost a lot of effect by being so obvious.

A class action lawsuit isn't such a bad idea. Didn't a bunch of fans sue Creed for sucking at a concert? That's just great!

Maybe GL could redeem himself if:

1) the original Star Wars trilogy was on DVD, NOT SPECIAL EDITION (okay, that has nothing to do with Ep1 or 2, but it would make me like him a lot more)
2) he has nothing to do with Ep3. Somebody else gets to write the script, direct it, and build the damn sets. Oh yes, that's right. Sets.
3) Jar Jar Binks dies in a horribly bloody and unecessary death.

That's all I can think of for right now. biggrin.gif

Lucas should release 2 box sets of the original trilogy:

1. Original releases with a 4th DVD that has all the old 1983"Making of a legend" series/TV specials taht show how they did the effects and such.

2. The bastardized CGI version.

I disagree. Even if Ep3 is the best movie ever made it simply can't redeem the entire prequel trilogy.

The Star Wars original trilogy DVDs are probably gonna suck. I'm guessing Lucas won't release the originals, but rather the special edition (rumor has it he's adding even MORE new stuff the to the original movies).

I want to see LOTS of behind the scenes stuff from the original trilogy. From a time where behind the scenes things weren't really ever intended to be seen. Nowadays they just film them intentionally at the same time of the movies for the DVD special features.

I'd like to see a DVD of "From Star Wars to Jedi". That special rocked my world in 1990.

My brother made a good point about the Extended Edition Star Wars films...it is almost as if GL is embarrassed by the technology back then so he wants to redo all the painstaking scenes with CGI. This totally shits on the hard work and creativity that the crew put into the original. The stop motion space fights, the big jabba prop that took 4 people to operate, etc. The 1982 puppet Jabba looked 10x better than the CGI jabba of 1997.

The one time I agreed with GL was the CGI yoda in Ep2. Looked 10 times better than puppet yoda of Ep1.

Which is what I don't get. The puppet Yoda looked great in Episode V! What happened?

Kind of ironic that GL goes to technology (i.e. CGI) when in ANH he has Luke put away his technology.

I think the puppet Yoda looked good in Empire because the whole scene was shot in a dark swamp, it covered alot of things. The yoda puppet in Ep1 was done on a bright CGI temple with lots of windows. SHowed alot more flaws in my opinion due to this.

"Love covers many sins"

anybody that Loved episode one, raise your hands.

Lucas has been sliding downhill since the "force-d" renaming of Revenge of the Jedi.

by updating a new hope, he tries to bring a good release to today's audience.

another thing, if "SW" was good enough to win an academy award for special effects, and those effects are not deemed worthy, isn't that just dissing the academy?

(BTW, for the ages: a clip from episode 2 made it in the AFI all-time top villians and heroes special. I want to throw up)

Return of the Jedi is a much better name than Revenge of the Jedi first of all, and he hasn't been going downhill since then, because Jedi was a great movie, but don't get me started on that. He's been going downhill since Howard the Duck, let's face it. Then he discovers CGI, and we know the rest. But you never know, Ep III may be great.

Of course Return is a better word than Revenge. that was the point. WE know revenge isn't the way of the Jedi. For LUCAS to forget that hints to me he just started slipping a little. that's all.

Jedi *was* a great movie compared to what we've seen lately. Yet I believe Empire was the peak, therefore I maintain from there it's been downhill.

but in fairness to episode three; in 1978 I never imagined "star wars 2" (empire) would BE so good.

I'd like him to skip Luke and Leia entirely in Ep III. If they must be brought up, have Amadala pregnant at the end.

I'd like a better showing of the temptations of the Dark Side, instead of a whining petulant little child that just shows that Yoda was right, he shouldn't have been trained.

I'd like some background into his relationship with Palpatine. Out of nowhere, he's talking with this big important person. This would be like me suddenly chatting with the Prime Minister of Canada. A clearer idea of why Palpatine is interested in Anakin would be good.

How about releasing an excellent novelization of the movies that follows the same plot but gives everyone some freaking motiviation?

Ah OK I didn't realize what you were saying, I thought you meant that it was a better title than Return. And I'm not sure if that was ever really intended to be the title, though I agree that if it was, then yeah, Lucas may have started slipping a little there. Luckily he wasn't directing the movie, or else maybe we would have gotten Ewoks killing the Emperor and Luke and Anakin catching up on what they missed when, you know, Anakin was killing all those Jedi and not being a good father.

i was really exited as a child when they advertised it as REVENGEof the Jedi.
'the phantom menace' and 'attack of the clones' can only be salvaged (title wise), if the new one is called 'Jedi Blood Bath' and is rated R.

;p

as for DVDs, it is official! SW in its' original format will never be available on DVD!!!

SPECIAL EDITION of PM? i heard they extended the pod race scene, that took up too much time to start of with...

AOTC special edition, will probably be an extra 30 minutes of anikan sobing about having to kill all those sand people. When it should be 30 minutes of us watching him slice them up.

i just can't get over what a wuss he is. "I killed them all, even the women and children." now i don't know about you, but if it had been me I would have said to the evercute amidali-lama
"It's like this, some sand people messed with my family so i evicerated the entire comunity, even the kids and pets, it was great you should have seen it. I tell you, they'll think twice before f***ing around with a skywalker!"

damn, I should have played anikan.
