Floppy wanted me to do a topic on this to help him decide if he wants to buy it. Being the nice guy that I am, I agreed to do it.

So, I guess I'll review the aspects of the game.

Gameplay: 10

Graphics: 9.5

Audio: 9.5

Characters: 8.0

Game Length: 10

Ingenuity: 10

Replayability: 8.0

I'm kinda lazy to do an actual review... but, maybe others could fill in. c_c

Well, I've heard that it has a nifty battle system better than most RPGs, and I've heard that it's great, but that comes from gaming magazines, which I don't trust. Anyone else have an opinion?

Oh, and thanks for the thread, but I was too stupid to realize that I should've done it myself.

Buy it. I did, and it was awesome. I didn't play the orrigional paper mario(I don't think it was released here), but I still loved this one. The battle system:
You have a selection of moves. Normal moves, like jump and hammer, and flower moves(which costs flower points, fp=mana)which generally do more damage. When your character does the move, you can do something special for more damage. For example, with mario's jump, if you press A the moment you hit the enemies head, you can bounce up and hit them again. Likewise, if you press A or B at the right time, you can deflect an enemies attack. Battles are all perfomed on a stage in front of an audience. The audience can throw you items, or throw hammers at you, or cause other random effects. If you do neat things, the audience throws stars which fill up your star power. This allows you to do special moves, which can be quite damaging, or heal your party.

The RPG elements are fairly straight forward, but still enjoyable. Using the paper capabilities is great, and the party members all have their own personalities. You get to go to a collection of different locals, so things don't get to boring. The only problem I had with the game was it got a bit tiring at the end, but that was just me. Also, the final boss is quite difficult, but she looks neat.

Yeah, we were gonna get it but it's like 90 bucks. That's pretty damn steep for a Gamecube game.

Most GC games are about that, or at least the ones worth buying anyway.

We got Spiderman 2, Metroid, and Eternal Darkness for around $40 each. Granted they've been around for a while, but Paper Mario isn't all that new...

$90 australian? what's that in American?

Spider man 2 fucking rocked, Metroid Prime rocked, and I'm going to get ED soon.

Edit: Thanks, Sime. I'll buy it after ED, unless I hear some bad complaints from someone else...

Get ED first, the Paper Mario. My personal opinion is that ED is the best game on the cube.

Apparantly, AU$90 = US$67.9564

That's way too much for games. Someone's ripping you off. You guys don't have EB or Gamestop up there?

EB is about the only games store we have over here. Well, in Perth anyway. There isn't any choice.

Yeah, EB's the leading games store. Exhorbitant fuckers. I've been trying to find a second hand place, but the problem with cities is that good stores get lost amid all the crap ones, and that someone else always gets to the bargains before you do.

Gamestop bought EB, but I'm not sure if that includes everywhere, or just in America.

I remember seeing PM - TTYD on a game review show, and they made it lose points because of TOO MUCH READING! lol. That was so stupid...

Then again, it was that dumb Reviews on the Run show, so that's probably why. biggrin.gif

No, I was watching X-play (the reviews are hilarious) the other day, and they recorded the game. They showed a sped up shot of some dialouge. The player was pressing A or B as fast as he could, and the dialouge screens still went on for at least a minute.
