I went out today and did something that I didn't expect to. I put an iPod Mini on layaway. It's silver, and very pretty and cute. So the way I see it, the smaller hard drive is still plenty for my needs, while offering far more than your standard 256mb flash memory player. Plus it's cute.

I bought a pink one for my wife. I bought it because it was small, pink and cute. I hate macs and their "iProducts" (see here), but their marketing is genius so I couldn't resist. Also the mini is the worst bang for your buck of all the iPods, you're basically paying for the style factor...

You're right. The next size iPod model isn't that much more expensive than the Mini. But I think the fact that it kind of gives off that 'Ohh, a weee bit too much memory for the average MP3 player owner' message, it drives people more towards the Mini.

EDIT - grammatical errors

EDIT #2 - Also, the Mini comes in colours, which they should do with the larger iPods aswell.

Quit raining on my parade Robinson. wink.gif
The mini is, as ltts said, for those of us who have no reason to carry around 20GB of music. That's way too much. By the time it played something I felt like hearing, it'd be easier to just get the smaller hard drive. Plus I wear tight clothing, so my pockets could never hold the larger iPod.

Luckily for all of us, we now don't have to be satisfied with only a few iPod choices... this weekend I'll buy a few of the iShuffles and carry them around with a "subset" of the music I have on my wife's iPod mini. I'll be so chic it'll be scary. biggrin.gif
