My only experience with a wireless setup was a D-Link, and it may not be able to handle what you're after. I would assume, then, that you may want to look into a Linksys router. They're a little more "hardcore" in that respect.

It probably doesn't matter so much which router you use in terms of speed; the bottleneck will most likely be the Internet connection. Just make sure you get a "G" router, which operates at 54 Mbps ("B" only operates at 11 Mbps). Currently, I'm using a Linksys and it works pretty well for me. I don't have an Xbox, but I'm sure that you will need to purchase a wireless-to-ethernet bridge since the Xbox most likely takes only wired ethernet connections (this is the case for PS2). One thing that may slow your connection down is interference from a cordless phone system that operates at a frequency of 2.4Ghz.

I've had great luck with Linksys. I'd recommend this one: http://www.newegg.co...-124-136&depa=0

That router is good because you can get "modded" firmware for it which I find MUCH better for many uses...

A friend of mine just purchased a D-Link Wireless 108G Gaming Router with the supports both 802.11b and g. Haven't heard how he likes it. What was your complaints with ur D-link??

I know you weren't asking my but I'll advertise my opinion here anyway.
Linksys I find more reliable (hardware wise), better tech support, less compatibility problems with various things like games, software, etc.
Dlink I've had DOA or otherwise flaky hardware sometimes after running fine for an extended period of time, crappy support on top of that but still a good product.

Now reading those two opinions of mine, still I say you can't go wrong with either one. Dlink actually handles PAT correctly on their B and G routers while Linksys screws it up somehow.

I just want to also mention a third option since I've had great experiences with it so far, the belkin Pre-N router. The range is 10x better with this thing even with a G card. however at this point if you would consider the Pre-N because of range and better speeds you might want to just wait and grab this:

Since N isn't official yet any B, G with MIMO tech would give you the same benefits right now.
