Posted a link at Sluggy to get their thoughts, and I think Yahtz will be very interested in THIS response. Go over to their forums to see the rest.

QUOTE
I utterly discount every sentence in the point about women. This individual is obviously a misogynist. No one but a misogyist would even think, let along write, that comment about a woman "tied down and squealing." That was distasteful, offensive and disturbing. I'm not referring here to any consensual activity, I'm talking about the utter objectification of a woman into a sexual gratification object that can then be discarded, which is clearly implied by his attitude.

Well, that guy completely missed the point.

Only slightly. And by that, I imply you're being too nice about it.

Ohhh, could you please link the forum post so I don't have to wade through the whole forum to see an entire fan base bitch about one of yahtzee's articles.

I’m sure you all remember Yahtzee Takes on the World; personally it was my favourite of Yahtzee’s comics – although I admit I’m liking Chris and Trilby. Unfortunately it has now been revealed that it had five flaws:
1.The Author was the main character – now whether he based the main character on himself I’m not sure, but they had the same name, so I think we can take a pretty good guess.
2.Female characters – I can’t remember how many there was, and for some reason I can no longer view the YTOTW archives, but I seem to remember that there was one female character who took a lead role as Yahtzee’s accountant. Would you have considered her ‘hot?’ It doesn’t matter, the main character slept with her anyway.
3.Mascots – We all loved the evil talking penguin, and that conscience thing, didn’t we? Shame they’re considered clichés now.
4.Crazy Inventor – Was his name Paul? Do you think maybe Yahtzee wrote this article on purpose to see how many people would notice that he was taking the piss out of his own comics?
5.The Setting – The main one was a volcano base, and it was pretty cool. So maybe there were only four flaws, but I think I’ve made my point.

Despite all its problems, it was still a great webcomic, which only makes me more convinced that Yahtzee wrote his last update simply to see how many people would be drawn in and take it seriously. Of course, I'm just guessing.

There's always the crashing furore of time and experience to negate said point. In two years time, we're all going to look back at our work and think "that was crap". Even if it isn't!

Wow, these people got really pissed off at the sheer mention that someone doesn't care for their religious text. We wouldn't get that way if someone said Yahtzee sucks, please tell me we would't, please.

It's pretty funny that they're getting worked up when you remember that (a) I didn't specifically mention Sluggy Freelance, and (cool.gif I wasn't even slagging it off. I actually kind of like Sluggy Freelance. It would be interesting to see what reaction this article gets if you post it on the forums of all the other webcomics my description could apply to. We could see which community 'gets' it first.

And yes, I was waiting for someone to state the obvious, that YTOTW had much of the same cliches. I have moved on since then.

I randomly scrolled down to this funny line:

"[Yahtzee] seems to be advocating doing something completely off the deep end just for the sake of doing something different. Gay light-house keepers from space, indeed."

I've yet to find a webcomic featuring a likeable chick. Or rather, featuring a chick I don't have to be male to appreciate.

Try Girly thats a pretty ok web comic... bit wierd though for my tastes.

I just hate it when people in webcomics just set out to make their own crappy anime thing with large eyes and sweat drops. Fucking anime. Hi again by the way.

Dr. Looney is a long-time friend of Yahtzee's forums. On that note, good to see that you're not dead.
