Yeah, I have ICQ running along the right of screen, so the forums only have a centimetre or two space on the borders. Having side ads would make things awkward.

Running ICQ is awkward as it is, anyway. wink.gif

QUOTE (Heccubus @ Jan 7 2005, 07:10 PM)
Since we have so much space on either side of the actual message board, would it make sense to place the ad alongside it with the vertical banners?

That only works on high resolutions.

Yeah, I toyed with the idea of running them on the side. In order to do that I would have to get rid of the central alignment of the forums and put it on a side, otherwise it wouldn't appear properly centered. I could potentially do that but, as Ninja Duck pointed out, it would be tough for anyone with a resolution smaller than 1024 x 768.

As for the ICQ thing, you should just get a dual monitor setup and run ICQ on the other monitor. That's what I do. wink.gif

I actually find it works quite well. Most websites are set up for smaller resolutions, so using 1024x768 with an ICQ bar down the side makes no difference to my surfing. As I only run ICQ when surfing, it doesn't cause any problems with my gaming. And seeing as I've been doing this for years now, it would be weird not to.
