Bush is a sinner, but if there's any doubts, maybe it's time to add an 11th commandment.

'Thou shalt not invade oil- rich foreign countries.'

QUOTE (Slade @ Jan 6 2005, 06:40 PM)
Haven't you seen the South Park movie? He's not Christian, and therefore goes to hell with all of the non-believers. It was a joke... I thought throwing the Baldwins in there would spark a few synapses at least.

Aren't we all going to hell anyway? since multiple monotheistic religions all believe in some form of hell where the unbelievers end up, we're pretty much screwed.

Now that's sorted out, go outside and enjoy life....

A lot of people reject the 'war for oil' argument because as it is, the U.S. gets most of its oil from other countries, such as Saudi Arabia and Canada. However, Iraq has the second largest proven oil reserve, with more than 112 billion barrels. I see this forceful change in government for Iraq at the hands of the States as a strategic plan to ensure control (through diplomatic, and eventually legitamate means, of course) over the oil.

Anyone who loves money is a sinner, so... that must make Bush the Vengeful Guardian of the Third Plane of Hell.

Keep in mind, without oil, your comfortable life as you know it would be over. Would you kill to keep your lifestyle? That is the question. And since oil is not renwable, it's damn precious, really it's the life blood of any economic power house.

Boycott all oil products (and by products). Try it for 1 week, I bet you can't. Everything produced in a manufacturing facilities, plastic, gas, etc.. You'd have to stop supporting almost everything.

They did not go soley for oil, they went for military positioning. I think the US is preparing for a war with China and probably Russia. If there was no US army, I'm sure Russia would own europe and China would own the rest. Both have powerful armies that can't be matched by anyone other than the states and the UK. China has been industrializing like crazy. They have ICBM guidence technology and the largest infantry the world has ever seen.

The dependency on oil is an ugly situation that could have been avoided if the US started pumping huge sums of money into alternative energy research back in the 70's when the first oil scare hit.

"in times of peace, prepare for war" - Flavius Renatus Vegetius

I think that is what the US is doing right now.

You guys do realise that oil commandment thing was a joke right? I hear that sort of thing everyday from M.moore conspricy nutcases.

Jordan's right on the oil front, it's more about moving the front line than making the petrol cheap. It does have it's after effects though. Oil pumped from Iraq helps reduce the price worldwide, which in tern reduces the prices of goods (either through transport, or manufacturing).

The security of oil from other countries was a factor in one of bushes speaches wasn't it? he wanted to reduce americas dependancy on foriegn imports. That's going to be kinda difficult without a bit of imperialism.

Lastly; Jordan, you might be wrong about the UK military. It's been in a decline for the past 40 years. Equipments outdated, regiments are being downsized, satanists at the helm of destoryers (I'm not kidding about that one). China and Russia aren't going to worry too much about it.

satanists at the helm of destoryers

whats wrong with that, satanism is blown out of all propotion
theres nothing about sacrifcing goats or drinking the blood of children
it all just propaganda to try and make people hate them, that and those satanists that do are more than likely looked apon as most right-wing christians from the few point of liberal ones, and the same with islam
whats wrong with satanism, i may not be a praticing satanist, but i still think they should allowed to pratice it if they wish and not be put down just because they worship satan

Wait... Oh! How clever of Mr. Bush! Let's make Little America over in the Middle East, so we wouldn't have to import it! Clever man.

The U.S. is awfully worried about raising the price of oil to, oh my God, 3.50 a gallon. The Europeans, before they enjoyed the cushy OPEC currency switch to the Euro, paid twice that for a litre, which is less than a gallon. I wonder... The positioning of America is all screwed up. They seem to feel that by having a bigger country, we should use up all that space (rub it in the face of those pesky native savages) and make traveling distances farther apart. Germany, for instance, is efficient in that they offer a wide variety of transportation, in towns big and small. The U.S. should really fix their system.

Or we could just support alternative and renewable resources and research to use them in replace of oil... But then all of the oil companys would lose money, and we can't have that!

Lecter, you're British, it's a joke. It's there for comic relief. There's nothing wrong with satanists in control of a floating weapons platform, It's just amusing that it plays against the common conception of the British military.

The oil company's are going to loose money eventually anyway, when it runs out. Until then they can just hold the world to ransom for a little while. Research into other techs is fine, providing the infrastructure that they require doesn't need oil, which tend to be somewhat tough.

A good start though would be a ban on gas guzzling V8's and SUV's. biggrin.gif

Fortunately here in Blighty the government taxes the stuff like crazy, and we're nationalistic enough to to want johnny foriegners 'european' currency replacing our pound.

Laughlyn: Apparently you don't live in the western part of the USA. Here your penis size is directly proportional to the size and power of your Truck/SUV. Let this illistration explain.

Besides when you get a kid you can't have a car, the little tykes need room to play in, I don't know when that became the norm, back when I was young I only had a back yard and a park.
