I had fun teaching my girlfriend (who's Korean, which I guess you need to know for the story to fully make sense) about the word "bugger".

It started with a bit of a misunderstanding when her two year old nephew was plaguing me and I told him to 'bugger off'.

To the ear of someone who is not a native English speaker, that sounds like something a lot more harsh. My girlfriend thought that I had said that harsher, and more internationally known, expression. So I had to teach her about that little Australian phrase. And now, she quite likes the expression. smile.gif

Brilliant story biggrin.gif

It's odd. I've been saying 'bugger it' or 'bugger off' for as long as I can remember, but I didn't know the literal meaning(or even that it had a literal meaning)until I was 15 or so. Its just not considered rude here.

I can't really "get more PT fans". People who come here do so usually as a result of my SW articles. If they are fans of my articles, they generally are not fans of the PT.

If PT fans come here they're more than welcome. Jariten has been a member here for a while now and his presence has been pleasant and given a great perspective into the mind of the PT fan. I think this forum would be much less rich without his presence and I applaud him for sticking around even though he is clearly outnumbered. I have a lot of respect for Jariten.

And, as Laura has said, if you are sick of defending them, don't. There's no need to waste your time on the internet, debating the merits/flaws of a stupid science fiction/fantasy movie. However, if you do wish to spend your time that way that's why this site exists.

If you want to talk with other PT fans there are a million other sites you could go to.
