"You Can't Do That On Television" was great, because it gave us a chance to see Alanis Morrisette covered in disgusting green goo on a fairly regular basis. If only people would just randomly dump slime on her today, the world would be a much better place.

I mainly grew up off of Nickelodeons cartoons. Here are some of my favorites...

-Legend of the Ancient Temple
-Ren& Stimpy
-Double Dare
-My Brother and Me
-Salute Your Shorts
-Are You Afraid of The Dark?
-Rockos Modern Life
-AHHHH! Real Monsters!
-The Secret World of Alex Mack
-Turbo Teen
-G-Force
-Boy Meets World

That's all I can think of right now, Man I wasted a ton of my life on TV! I'll add more as I think of them.

Dangermouse gets credit , purely for the tradgic wanderings of David Jasons announcer, and the weird green frog dude who I can't remember the name of.

Used to have a local TV station (Rare thing in blighty) a year ago that showed nothing but episodes of Trapdoor; not a good thing at 3am. Nothing ever happened in that show, except that some monster would come out of the trapdoor (left open again!) and the blue thing would go 'oh dear'.

Then they switched to showing the magic roundabout, and things got really wierd.

I want to go back to the films of the 80's, where plots were simple, and explosions happened regularly....

Oh god, I got so sick of Double Dare and Alex Mack! They always played them over and over and over, especially Double Dare!

...No, wait, I'm think of What Would You Do?, not Double Dare...same host different show. That show was shown over and over and over. I swear, I must have seen every episode of that show six times over they played it so much! I hated it!

How could I forget "Rocko's Modern Life"!? What an incredible show, and possibly the best about a talking wallaby who hangs out with a mildly retarded dog and a cow-like thing ever.

I thought that was the only show about a talking wallaby who hangs out with a mildly retarded dog and a cow-like thing...

Didn't Nickelodeon play repeats of ALL of the shows they came out with? Every new show that they would come out with, they would make 10 episodes and mix em' all up. That's what it seemed like.

Oh yes, I forget "The Adventure of Pete and Pete".

I think they still show the reruns of The Adventures of Pet and Pete on that "The N" channel. I'm not sure exactly when it's showing but I know it's between the thousands crappy episodes of Degrassi, however you spell it.

God, how I miss the good ol' days, if you consider them old. Now Nickelodeon is nothing but a bunch "Slime Time Live" garbage.

You know, I don't think I've actually watched Nickelodeon since I was about ten years old. I know I watched Cartoon Network for a couple years before I got sick to the thought of it, then it was MTV for a while until I realized what utter crap it was (and still remains to be, every time they came up with a new show I kind of liked it was taken off completely after a barely a couple months to make room for more of that Real World/Road Rules shit), and I think by fourteen my permanent base channel became Comedy Central and my cartoon of choice became South Park.

This whole thing makes me think. You know what's funny - and I mean funny not in the "haha" way but in the "...what the hell?" sense - when I was nine years old, I got laughed at for having a Pocahontas backpack. When I was nine. These days, there are people older than me wearing t-shirts and carrying around merchandise for show meant for pre-school aged kids, and everybody thinks it's cool! When the hell did this start?

EDIT: I remember I tried watching Daria on that channel after MTV took it off the air (I don't know why, that's only the best show they had going for them in the midst of all that crap!), but I just couldn't stand it. With the exception of the season I missed because I never got the time slots straight, I must have seen every episode a dozen times over from the show's very beginning, so I was all too aware of when they censored the episodes. That just ruined the whole experience for me.

...I miss that show...that's a major part of my childhood/early teenage memories. And the theme song is stuck in my head now.

Your tv stations strike me as odd. Do you have entire stations dedicated to a single theme, such as cartoon network just doing cartoons, and comedy central just doing comedies? We have six channels free to air here. 7, 9 and 10 just show generic crap. Sitcoms, news, reality tv, lifestyel shows, etc. ABC is a government station which shows more interesting things, such as BBC comedies. SBS is the weird foreign channel(that is the only one gutsy enough to pick up South Park)and Access 31 is the Public access channel(which I believe Barend's show is on in Sydney, but not here, so I can't really say). But yeah, our channels all show a bit of everything, except for SBS which shows foreing arty porographic things.

Wasn't the Daria theme song performed by L7 or Jack Off Jill or some such band? Good song either way.
