QUOTE (use the force @ Dec 30 2004, 10:41 PM)

Oh please! I've included a rational arguement for why I would not like to spend time with either of these two characters, but there is no way that you can expect any of us to take seriously another message boards poll results to help back up your arguement. Sorry about this "use the force" but most of those tools who stated they would Wipe them out. All of them. are extremely sad fanboys and girls who just like the idea that they could be that callous and evil. A good portion of them only choose that option because they think it's funny and makes them cool for going with the big bad Dark Side.

If you want to introduce "support" for your position then do it through a rational point of view. This bollocks you present here is just pathetic. Interestingly enough a lot of the people that actually posted their reasons for selecting their options went for the No women and Children.. Those that explained thier reason for selecting to wipe them all out obviusly fit into the category I've outlined above.

Please "use the force", if you are going to make an arguement present good supporting material. This sort of thing just lack credibility.

No kdding, Supes.

What a sad and pathetic group of losers projecting their impotent power fantasies. These are the same people who think "kicking ass" in Iraq means dropping nuclear bombs on Fallujah and Bagdad. Of course, they themselves can't be bothered to actually enlist.

Of course he couldn't have known, this jedi hothead with swinging blade and high midichlorian count. With Anikan's very next swing, one raider would fall whose count rose higher than his. In fact, the kindest raider of them all. The one who, after falling in lava on the volcano planet, sought the solace of a life in exile. And all he wanted was his wife back. The wife that was sold into slavery almost twenty years prior. As the grandfather of Luke and Leia lie dying on the sand, Shmi died bravely, keeping their secret protected so there would be more time for sebulba in the podrace.

The Tragedy of Shmi and Midichloriansalone.

A play, by J M Hoffman.

-Opening scene, SHMI is out mushroom hunting while being whipped by the cruel SLAVE DRIVER DROID.

Shmi- Oh woe is me, to live a life of constant and pointless torture and be forced to hunt mushrooms. I doth wish my secret lover would come carry me away.

Slave driver droid- There shall be none of that ye wench. Get to the mushrooms straight away or I speed my whip to thy backside!

Shmi- Oh if thou knewest mine husband thou wouldst not say such things. He was an honorable man named Midichloriansalone.

Slave driver droid- What meanest thou? Dost thou speak of yon little things that enable men to use yon force?

Shmi- I know not of what thou speakest, my lord. Midichloriansalone was my husbands name but he left shortly after our son's birth, he did sayeth that he was unable to be a father considering his obligations.

Slave driver droid- Tell me truely of what his obligations were, or I shall throttle you thoroughly.

Shmi- I know not. All he told me was that he hath a magic easel that could heal well nigh any wound unless one of his blood should betray him.

Slave driver droid- Thou liest! -he beats her-

Shmi- I confess! Beat me no more my goodly lord! My husband is indeed a member of the Tatooine underground railroad.

Slave driver droid- Tell me his name then! Speak lest ye feel my backhand!

Shmi- Midichloriansalone! -This said as MIDICHLORIANSALONE appears and soundly defeats the slave driver droid-

Midichloriansalone- Dearest of mine own bosom! How came you by this plight? I always dreamed of being able to rescue you!

Shmi- Mine own husband! Take me in thy arms! The world groweth dark!

Midichloriansalone- Fear not my heart. I shall strap you straightaway to my magical healing easel.

-Exeunt MIDICHLORIANSALONE and SHMI. The slave driver droid stirs on the ground-

Slave driver droid- A thrashing like that is one seldom come by and seldom left unavenged. Cursed shall be the names of these renegades 'pon my lips until the day my hurts are repaid. Upon my head, I will not read ere both are dead. I go to my master.

-Exeunt SLAVE DRIVER DROID scene opens on the Lars ranch-

LARS- Why comest thou here in such poor condition, loyal servant?

Slave driver droid- because poor conditions come upon me. Shmi is escaped and I fear I may not live to revenge myself upon her.

Lars- Did none see what hath happened?

Slave driver droid- None but the two rebellious and wanton slaves.

Lars- There may be hope yet for their recapture. Her son cometh straight away and into his mind I shall plant the seeds of doubt. Go ye, get thee to a droid repair facility! -Exeunt SLAVE DRIVER DROID as Lars speaks an aside- Too often hath Shmi defied me. Methinks this time shall be her last. For her husband now revealed, shall soon feel his own sons saber flash!

-The scene moves to a village of rebel slaves and Tusken raiders as MIDICHLORIANSALONE ties SHMI to the magical healing easel-

Midichloriansalone- Here my love wilt thou be safe. Thy injuries are dire but if the power of my magic healing easel shalt hold through the night you shall be saved.

Shmi- I fear neither of us can be saved my lord. For Lars is a vengeful man once his ire awaketh.

Midichloriansalone- There is yet hope. I feel a great disturbance in the force. Perhaps it is our son come to despatch yon villain.

-Meanwhile, at the Lars place, ANAKIN talks with LARS-

Anakin- Dost thou mean that my goodly dame hath been taken and tortured by sand people?

Lars- Would that it were not so young Anakin! Oh woe is me, and she too be my wife this next day!

Anakin- Me thinks that thou dost over-act. Perhaps ye should to speak truly lest ye feel the cut of my saber.

Lars- Truly I do speak sir. Thou shalt find thy mother in the sand people village. Tend to her, and kill the one who holds her, for he is a villain.

Anakin- Always hath my goodly companion Palpatine told me to trust people who aren't Jedi. Thou dost not seem to be one, and so I shall go and I'll do and I'll do and I'll run them through!

-The scene cuts to the tent containing the magical healing easel. SHMI and MIDICHLORIANSALONE are within.-

Shmi- Thy easels power doth lessen my lord.

Midichloriansalone- Impossible! I shall go out to discover the reason for such. Fear not my love, for you shall be safe.

-Exeunt MIDICHLORIANSALONE, enter ANAKIN.-

Shmi- My son? Is that you? I can see that thou hast betrated thy father... I am sped... -Dies-

Anakin- Oh cruel fate! Why dost thou mock me!

-Reenter MIDICHLORIANSALONE-

Midichloriansalone- What hast thou done my son? Thy mother dead and by thy betrayal! Only by thee could the powers of yon magic healing easel be anulled! Life holds no more laughter for me, and thus I must speed it to a close! Out, out brief candle! -He falls upon his own sword-

Anakin- What ho! Thou wast my father! Thou wast my mother! Both dead by mine own foolishness! The capital of my crimes weighs heavily 'pon my shoulders and to spare the weight I too must die -He falls upon his own sword-

-Enter LARS family and Sanpeople, narrator speaks-

Lars- From the loins of this cursed desert a trio of starr cross'd wierdos take their life. Not but their own deaths could end our strife... Or something.

Sandpeople- Verily and well hast thou spoken. Let us celebrate by randomly shooting at ye olde pod racers!

-Exeunt all, que curtain. Fin-

blink.gif laugh.gif Well, J m, you certainly have on hell of an imagination.

The sandpeople had women and children. We know this because Anakin killed them how could he tell? The children might be smaller but I never saw a sandperson with breasts. Did they hike their skirts and show him some leg or something?

QUOTE
Also, I can see the point of wanting to kidnap a human and use her as a slave, but they didn't. They tied her to a flimsy easel for a month. It's assumed they had to feed and give her water. What for? Was she purely ornamental? I can understand them wanting the droids, you can sell those for a lot of money, but a chick who's only skills are finding non-existand mushrooms and getting randomly pregnant, you're not going to get much.

How is kidnapping Shmi any more "random" than attacking Luke?

How can you know it was a random kidnapping if we never saw what transpired on screen?

Do you think anyone in the audience would say "oh, those Sandpeople are so misunderstood!"?

Jariten- Theres a bit of a difference between "Hey, that guy is drivin a speeder through our turf, lets knock him off." and "Hey look, someone is picking mushrooms near her house. Let's capture her and torture her to teach her a lesson about picking mushrooms... or something."

Maybe thats why they are so savage. They just randomly kidnap people that torture them. Either that or it was a statement to the settlers to move back to Mos Eisley or something.

Hofmarn... you are just too damn funny!! Great stuff...

As for my final word on the Tusken, it's just more proof that Lucas has dropped the ball. He hasn't really defined the Tuskens (thought they were relatively defined in ANH) in the proper light. I mean, it's got to say something when we're arguing what kind of people the Tuskens were, and if Anakin's actions were justified or not, and it's equally compounded by Anakin's duplicate nature.

"I hate them... (cry) and I killed the women and children, too." Something is very, very wrong.

I think I would've been happier with an Anakin who was gleeful that he had killed them, and I wish he HADN'T told Amidala that he had done so... Anakin should've been more upset about his mother, not that he killed the Tuskens, but that his mother was dead.

I would've liked to have seen the "good man" of Anakin in the first half of the film... capable Jedi, good friend to Obi-Wan, a good love interest to Amidala, a great star pilot, and then the seduction happens, and we can see the change. As far as I can see, Anakin before the murder of the Tuskens is the same as the Anakin after the slaughter.

I don't know, it's a messy, messy, messy thing, and it just doesn't jive right, and it's clunky and unwieldy. I would've liked to have seen Anakin's "fall" happen with the "seduction" that Palpatine supposedly does... This should've been happening early on, and if it has been happening early on... as per the quickie scene shot where Palp and Anakin are speaking, there should've been more of it. If this is Lucas' "surprise," it....just doesn't work.

I just don't think we should have all of these loose ends and questions. This is not the way to make Star Wars!!!

Well theres still one episode left! I know you all lost hope somewhere during the summer of '99 but I'm still going strong.

Anyway, the thing I really like about how Lucas wrote Anakin is that, although there are other elements involved, Anakin will go over to the darkside through choice. Which was a theme (choices and responsibility) established in TPM and which carries on through the whole saga.
