Okay, it's becoming obvious that the game is definitely moving too fast, since everyone seems to be becoming officers after a month's employment, so I made some major changes to gameplay in the latest uploaded version. Any save games you have can now fuck off. You're all going to have to start afresh.

It should, hopefully, be a lot harder to get promoted now. Bribing doesn't give as much of an advantage as it used to, and your popularity level becomes more of a deciding factor. Interactions with characters no longer raise their affection level as rapidly as it has done thus far.

Hopefully that bribery bug has been worked out now, I changed the activating functions completely.

My problems (may be fixed now, as older version) were.

Invisible item called 'Event' filling my inventory so I couldn't get any new items.

My character dissapeared completely after taking a shower/bed/reading. The sprite just vanished.

Not a problem, but once your relationship reaches the physical stage with someone, it would be nice to get new greetings, and have other crew members commenting on your relationship.

Actually, being able to talk about other crew members would be nice. You could undermine their position with gossip, or find out more about them.

The bribing works fine and it's definitely much more challenging to be popular now =).

One small bug: I hacked into the store and bought the steroids and the learning drugs. When I took the steroids it didn't disappear from the inventory and was able to use it many times. When Taking the learning drug the steroids disappear but the learning remains for further use.

Is it possible to share save files?

I've been playing for the last hour and i keep dieing i want to see if its something wrong with my save or if im doing some stupid thing that kills me. I go to bed and my health bar just drops until the game over screen appears its likely that im starving him or something but i want to be sure. Also its likely that people will be shareing saved files when this is released and it might help if we check if save swaps work before its actually let out into the public domain.

More bug-like things, this time with an engineer.

- The screwed-up clock after bedding the chief engineer is still there.

- For some reason, when I went into the bar to order a pint of beer, I got nothing but an invisible item called - you guessed it - "Event"

Hello

I also got the events items bugs with the last beta, and there is another bug which seems to have something to do with. It prevents me from continuing to play the game :

(Global script line 846)
Error: Too many inventory items added, max 500 display at one time


This happens to me after the work report window has showed up
(20 june, Midshipman engineer)


I uploaded the save file, maybe this can help you fixing it :

To get the error, you have to use the ID and choose to work for some hours.

edit : Hum it also happens everytime I get the cinema window, same error line.

New version uploaded.

I'm hoping the too many inventory items problem should be sorted now, because I changed one of the settings. From now on, if you have more than one of a particular inventory item, it will only appear once in the inventory display. It will stay for however many times you have it.

Also fixed steroid/learning drug problem, and I think the bar problem should be sorted now. The clock problem I will probably leave for now if it isn't obstructive to the game.

I also raised the cost of the berth upgrades to 10000 and 20000 credits each, thus making it a more distant aspiration.

Having re-yoinked my hacking tools, I've just remembered the large (to me, now) bug I've had on mind for a few days. If you hack the library computer, you don't get seven extra daysm on your book, your book goes straight out of date.

Yeheehee, ratted out Doreen at last. I never liked her anyway. Snooty cow.

Tiny niggle - remember the problem with the text for promotion? Well, the same thing applies for the message you get when caught trying to smuggle the messages to the Remans. It cuts out during the word Earth Federation. Just something minor, can be corrected the same way.

Also, when I was experimenting with the darker side of things, I took Gloria out on a date, and when I got to the room and the choices menu there was another option - 'Kill him'. Makes sense, I did have a blaster, but probably should be 'Kill her'.

Things are pukka, completly chicken soup. Can't wait for the first away mission! What month can I expect it?

And with the guys, (or, at least with David Serrai, who I killed so I could talk to Richard in the bar) the option is "kill her".

By the way, if you murder someone at your door while the security system is still on, you get the notice from the police, then it says you feel better, then it's game over. I don't think I really felt better.

Playing as a female, I got stuck in 'reading' animation, with only yellow and blue stripe mode working, depending on which direction I wanted to move into.

Other than that, no bugs discovered as of yet.

Hmm thats funny, Im on August 4th and I never got that msg.

I found a bug tho. If you kill off Dimitri, his bar goes to the bottom as its supposed to, but His picture and name stay while gloria's name and picture dissapear leaving her with only a bar.

I am currently the head of security, I have excellent chances of being promoted, I have high bars with everyone thats alive, and I have the highest room. Its only august, how about adding a minigame or two to pass the time.

Im still a bit confused about dating tho, how do you get married, I bang a someone every night, buy gifts and drinks, etc.

Also, I dont know wether you have recieved my email, but There is occasionaly a loop in the canteen where the player walks in from the left and goes into a "THANK YOU" Msg and walks up and down.

New version uploaded. There have been a lot of changes to gameplay again, so please DO NOT use save games from old versions and begin anew again.

I have taken some measures to prevent ultra-fast advancement. From now on, there is a cap on how much your promotion prospects can be raised in a single day, so you can't just work one twenty-four hour shift and become a star performer.

There are also now limits on how friendships can be developed:

- Once you have taken someone to the cinema or restaurant, you will be prevented from doing any other interactions with them for the rest of the day.
- Before that you can converse with them as many times as you like, but you will only receive the friendship increase the first time. You will have to wait until the next day before it can be raised again.
- You can buy them as many drinks as you like, but again, only the first one counts.

Hopefully this should bring an end to the scenario wherein the player reaches the limits of advancement in the first two months.

Incidentally, regarding marriage, as I did point out in the manual, marriage can only be proposed on the last day of the game, as the outcome then becomes part of the ending.

I was wondering if something like this was gonna happen. Makes sense, really. There's got to be some things still to do after the first two months.

No one's had an away mission yet? Hrm. I better look into this. I'm gonna speed things along and see if I do one.
