Here's the file, about 1MB in size:

http://www.fullyramb...ames/p12v10.zip

No music or sound at this point. There's a manual in there if you need any help.

Now, I'm not gonna lie to yez, this is kind of a pet project for me and I don't want too many bugs left in it when I release it properly, not like what happened with 7 Days. This is a very elaborately programmed game, so there are going to be bugs, and a lot of them, so if you want to beta test, I need you to beta test it HARD. Make it your beta test BITCH. Try everything you can, and save often; you never know when a bug will bring down the game.

You play for one year, then get an ending depending on what you achieved, how far you advanced and who (if anyone) you managed to get married to. If you want to be a criminal, save even more often, because that's a very hazardous course of action.

When and if you make it through to the end, please fill in the following format for my own reference and post in this topic:

Career path: (Security, medsci or engineering)
Your rank at end of game:
Who you married (if anyone):
Medals received (if any):
Outcome of away missions:
Any notable events:
Your ending:

Bugs found:
Suggestions for better gameplay:

I should note that I haven't actually played through the whole thing myself, because I have too much else to do and it's too boring when I know everything that happens in the game. So there could be a bug halfway through that's impossible to get past that I'm not aware of. Find anything like that, I'll try to fix it and upload a new version as soon as poss.

Thanks in advance to everyone who takes part. Once the official version gets released I'll tack on some beta testing credits.

Found a bug - on the screen where it tells you how well you worked for an hour, the 'OK' button only registers clicks slightly above it. I can't fathom why that happens, so I just stuck an identical button on top of it. Click on the top button, and for some reason the bottom button is clicked. New version uploaded.

If you use the jobclockers or up-down teleport thing in the top deck of Engineering, it says you cant reach them from here, but you can apparently reach the things on the next level down!

Wizard! There's a bug I remember from the pre-beta game. I don't know if it's been addressed yet, so here goes:

When you use a jobclocker on the bottom floor of the physician's deck, after you get all yer credits and click OK and everything, it treats you like you're on the top floor. You can't talk to the counselor, and if you want to go back up, you have to press the lift button on the top floor, and then the one on the bottom floor.

I've done a bit of playing around with it, and here's some stuff.

(NB: I was a military man)

-I sat down to read my book in my room, tryed messing around with the time thing, and from that point on, he was stting down reading a book.
-When he was in his room after that, half the time he'd stuck in the black to the left.
-I tried talking to a girl in engineering I was friends with, but she was always "too far away."

More was found, and promtly forgotten.

Things are going pretty well. I'm a military man as well, but if no one else is, I'd like to test out this criminal underworld thingie. Looks like a larf.

Anyhoo, just a few tiny points.

- On the outside view of the station, there's a square that looks just like the icon for looking in the inventory. It might be a ship murial or something, but I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be there.

- Also, after someone to the cinema, two new items on the inventory appeared. Both looked like the Look icon, and both were called Event. Probably something to do with coding the reaction of your partner.

- Finally, walking into the doorway leading out of the medical room doesn't take you back to the map screen. This is probably to do with either regions or the room boundaries not being in the walkable area, whatever you've used to change rooms. No biggie to sort.

Other than that, things are fine.

I miss a day of checking the forums, and an important update pops up. Damn it! I'll start beta testing away!

Found a couple minor bug...

-Whenever you complete a job or mission, there are two "OK" buttons stacked on top of each other. The bottom "OK" button will make the "pushed effect" when clicked, but the top button will not. They both have the same interaction though.

-With the "cinema bug" that Dark Comet pointed out. After seeing a movie, you gain a new inventory item called "Event", and just about every interaction you do from there will had a new "look" interaction to your inventory. Eventually you won't be able to carry anymore items you buy or obtain.

Shawnathan, I mentioned the OK button problem above, do wake up. I've no idea what's causing that.

Uploaded a new version to the same URL fixing most of the errors given here. Anyone got as far as an away mission yet? I'm particularly interested in how those work out.

Yo!

My first post here wink.gif anyway, i've decided to see what i may do to help you out to beta-test the game. Just started playing as a Scientist. Didn't make alot of the progress so far, cause didn't have enough time yet. But here is what i want to ask in the first place:

Was it meant to be that the "eye" icon appear right on the main menu screen, where you choise to start the new game or load an old one. When i click this icon, I jump right to the welcoming briefing On Poisedon-12 base.

another note on improving the game a little bid to its realistic condition (its a life sim after all). The guy - Dimitriy, he is russian and speaks with awesome russian accent and he is a cool and humoros guy anyway, but there are alot of clishes (if i spelled it right) about him and russians in general. Sometimes it does look stupid.
Well anyway. He gives you the short tour around the base and shows you the game's basics. The thing is that he talks about different stuff and shows it to you, but you only get time to read what he tells, and do not have time to look at what he showed. The speech goes off the screen too fast. So as for this tour, i would strongly suggest to make the speech switch on mouse click only. So players will have enough time to read what he said and look at the spot Dimitriy showed. Than when they are done, by simple mouse click they switch it to another line of text.

About "ok" button: can it be that the label for the button twice wider than it should be, which makes the button image appear as a double button?

I should explain the icon on title screen thing. I had these three buttons on the title screen I was using for debugging, and clicking on them would automatically take me to the start of the game with a pre-prepared character, so I wouldn't have to go through character generation every single time. Anyway, I removed it in the last upload.

Great game indeed, I'm already very addicted.

I wanted to get a promotion and naturally tried to bribe with 400 credids, but there seems to a bug here: When I choose to bribe, the text "Thank you for using value-rap" pops up and keeps popping up after each time I click it away making the game stuck there.
