R.E.M., probably the most made fun of bands ever. Weird Al has prayed apon them several times over the years. Especially the song "Losing My Religeon", I've heard too many people make fun of that one, I think I recall Yahtzee making fun of it at one time.

Well, even if people don't like them as much as they did in the 80's. I happen to like them...ALOT. I've caught myself walking through the hallways at school singing "Stand" to myself, while everybody else is making rap beats on their lockers with pencils and books. I got into an argument at school with someone because I said R.E.M. was better then Avril La..err. Shit, I can't spell her last name. Well...that hot chick from Canada that sang that Skaterboy song.

R.E.M. songs actually make sense and have a meaning, if you can understand them, I has to read the lyrics just to figure out what they were saying. I'm not saying band these days don't make meaning in their lyrics. But I'm talking about the artists that explain in their songs...How many hoe's they've banged and what order to shoot people during drive-by's.

Does anyone else like R.E.M? Com'on, don't be afraid to admit it.

While you think about it, I'll wait here to think of witty comebacks for the many insults I will recive.

If by any chance there's anyone out there who has no clue who R.E.M. is, check out this video right here.

I like REM and appreciate they're contribution to indie/college rock during the 80's. Their first 4 or so albums are enjoyable bits of jangley-pop.
Personally never paid attention to lyrics, but that has nothing to do with them and everything to do with me.

i'm not big on them... but i like them...
especially the new drummer: Bill Reiflin
who was the drummer for MINISTRY (you that band i keep telling you all to get into but you won't because you all suck tongue.gif)...

anyway...

yeah, they're good... there part of my 3 'oh yeah they're good' combo bands... the other two are U2, and Supergrass (a band i keep forgetting exists untill i see a clip, then i love them, but forget tham the next time i'm in a record store)...

"Bill Reiflin straight ass motherfucking ho!" (sorry, it's a revolting cocks thing... if you said it to him, i promise he'd smile and not hit you).

You know what, I knew they a drummer left their group. But I didn't know the new drummer Ministry! Everyone else seems to know more about them more than I do. Don't I feel like CRAP.

Anyway, glad to see people actually still like them.

R.E.M are alright, from what I've heard, but its worth noting tha just about anything is better than Avril Lavigne. Including, but not limited to, having to swallow watemelons whole.

REM in the 80s, when I was in college, yes. During the nineties, somewhat. Now I don't even know any of their music. I don't think I've heard their last 4 albums.

Having actually listened to their first album, I can conclud that there's mch worse things in the Universe to listen to. Go do it - even I think there's ome good stuff in there...

There new stuff isn't bad at all. Listen to "Daysleeper". Came out in 98', one of my favorites.

I loved losing my religion and the video to it is widely regarded as one of, if not the best music video ever. I also liked "stand" and "everybody hurts" (also a wonderous video) but their new stuff is magnificent, especially "bad day" which is a rather light hearted plea to the rest of the world from America, and their more striking protest song "final straw" REM has a great knack for making good music and combining it with excellent imagery and I highly reccomend them.
