I'm a regular visitor of the Internet Movie Database (www.imdb.com) and I was surprised by a recent review of "The Empire Strikes Back" that bashes the film slightly for having Princess Leia hook up with Han Solo instead of Luke Skywalker -which, as we all know, was followed up with Leia being Luke's long lost sister. The critic complained that Leia should have been Luke's girlfriend because Luke was the film's "emotional focus" and that putting her with Han Solo undermined Luke's position as "the emotional focus".

It would be a bit hard for Leia to have a romance with Luke considering Luke was busy in Daggobah. Besides, I think the love triangle was nicely setup, and the few moments Luke and Leia do spend together in ESB were touching and emotional.

" mak3 spase chips in big with lazzers 'n stuff"

Good one Jordan.

Back on topic, Luke and Leia as a couple is an absurd idea. Aside from the reasons already covered, there's the fact that Luke is the least interesting of the three leads, and there's the fact that Luke really had his eye on Admiral Ackbar's foxy sister, Crapbar. Luke and Leia as a couple wouldn't work for the same reasons as Anakin and Padme didn't - strong-willed vixen (not that Padme ever captured the "vixen" part) and whiny baby aren't a good match. Plus there's the fact that the chemistry factor for Hamill and Fisher was on par with Portman and Christensen's.

I didn't know Admiral Ackbar had a foxy sister.

Padme never came across as strong willed or strong in any particular department.

Even if Hamill and Fisher didn't have the right chemistry, saying theirs was on par with Portman and Christensen's is a bit harsh.

I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an obi-wan to go.

I have always said this, and people don't seem to be getting my point:

LUKE/LEIA

The end.

I think I get your point: Luke and Leia are similar names, so they must have been bro/sis from the start?

Bullshit.

Han/Ben.

Yes, well they are obviously related, but Ben is Han's father! It's part of Lucas's grand scheme!

Obi-wHan.

--
LUKE: So...what do you think of her, Han?

HAN: I'm trying not to, kid!

LUKE: (under his breath) Good...

HAN: Still, she's got a lot of spirit. I don't know, what do you
think? Do you think a princess and a guy like me...

LUKE: No!

Luke says it with finality and looks away. Han smiles at
young Luke's jealousy.

HAN: You know she's your sister, right? I mean, "Luke"... "Leia"...
What are the odds?
