Any ideas? I mean, they still would have been bad, but a different director might have made them slightly more bearable...

Kirshner or spielberg directing and Kasdan doing the script, I'd even bring back Kurtz and lucas' ex marcia to do the editing.

I don't suppose we could fire Lucas in this scenario, could we?

Probably the biggest problem comes from the fact that Lucas owns the rights to the franchise. I know he started it... but with many directors out there, the studio owns the rights.

Now if this was the case with Lucas, I think 20th Century Fox would have told him to jump in a lake sometime ago.... probably around 1997.
