For me its not a question of why he was arrogant or how he was arrogant, but why was he such a whiny little feeb? I guess he never grew up, no thanks to the Shriners, I mean the Jedi.

This goes to show you that joining a mystical society at the age of 10 does nobody any good. Then again, I'd be giving Lucas credit for putting this in my mind. I personally could care less why Anakin was arrogant, for me the question is why Hayden Christensen and Jake LLoyd?

You know I'm actually getting e-mail notifications to this old thread getting responses? I had actually forgotten about it, having been so long since anyone posted any responses to it.

I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an obi-wan to go.

I know I keep repeating myself, but yes, why should a little boy is described by his own mother as "putting others before himself" who willingly enters the Jedi Knights--a sect that deals with discipline and honor and self-control---be transformed into someone arrogant!?

Compound this with the fact that Obi-Wan's line from the OOT is completely flouted---"...the good man who was your father..."

One of the ways I think to have improved the saber scene with DookuTyrannus (what's the point of having a "code name" if people know you're 'filled with the dark side'?) is that if Anakin had killed Dooku. If everyone had said, Anakin, NO! But he killed him anyway? This would've completely done away with Yoda's fight scene = a blessing.

All I know is I haven't seen the real prequels yet.

Yes, I thoroughly agree - Anakin's arrogance would be bad enough if he did show any evidence of extraordinary talent, but he doesn't. The only things he seems to be really good at are whinging about how unappreciated he is, throwing tantrums like a pre-schooler and getting on everyone's nerves. I don't blame Obi-Wan for 'holding him back'; if anyone in the entire Jedi Order had any sense he'd have been kicked out long ago.

What's more, things get worse in the third movie:

Apparently, Anakin is appointed to the Council (the Council!!) at Palpatine's request, despite the fact that he's barely out of his teens and has only just finished his apprenticeship. (Not to mention that there's probably not a single Jedi in the Order less deserving of a seat on the Council than Anakin.) And he actually has the nerve to complain because he isn't also promoted to the rank of Master! This is as if I were appointed to Tony Blair's Cabinet tomorrow and, instead of being grateful, started bitching because he didn't grant me a knighthood as well. For Christ's sake, what a twat!

The sandpeople had women and children. We know this because Anakin killed them how could he tell? The children might be smaller but I never saw a sandperson with breasts. Did they hike their skirts and show him some leg or something?

Also, I can see the point of wanting to kidnap a human and use her as a slave, but they didn't. They tied her to a flimsy easel for a month. It's assumed they had to feed and give her water. What for? Was she purely ornamental? I can understand them wanting the droids, you can sell those for a lot of money, but a chick who's only skills are finding non-existand mushrooms and getting randomly pregnant, you're not going to get much.

You know, if we had read that ROTS plot synopsis back in -1998- we would have though those idea made perfect sense and would be really cool.

What pisses me off is that I've always wanted to know why Vader said "the circle is complete, now I am the master" because obviously it seems like they were finishing a pretty heavy duty conversation started last time they talked.

Now just to twist the knife i guess that really deep conversation is going to be something like :

"(whine) they won't let me by master! I want to be the most powerful jedi ever. I'm only on the Jedi Council, they're holding me back."

"well anakin, you can't be master because the circle isn't complete"

"that's not fair, I want to be the most powerful jedi ever. you're holding me back."

Ok finally, shouldn't you be a master before you get on the Jedi Council?

If a potential supreme court justice claimed to have slaughtered a small village (like animals......and the women.......and the children, mind you) do you think would make it through the screening process? Cmon, having an affair or hiring an illegal immigrant are grounds for not getting a gov't job here.

why am i even talking? you already know this shit is retarded.

Because it's fun, basically. Now that we've given up any hope of the prequels being good, there's a sort of horrible fascination in seeing just how bad they can get - and it's good for a laugh. If it annoys you then why do you continue to hang around here?

Hold on, are you saying that he's in his early 20's and on the Jedi counsel? Correct me if I'm wrong, but Mace Windu was the ONLY guy on the counsel who WASN'T a Master!

Now they're trying to have us believe that a maniac of a Jedi, one with almost no experiance is promoted to the counsel and he wants a Master rank right away?

Jesus H. Christ, I knew that I was impatient for stuff in the past, but this is ridicules!!!! pinch.gif

***Spoiler***
Anakin is not given the rank of Master. Mace expressively tells him so when he's appointed to the council. Apparently this will fuel Anakins anger and distance him even further from the other Jedi.

"Hah! Palpy says I can join your little club and have one of those comfy chairs in your board room."
"Not so fast poopoo-head. You still can't be a Master"
"You bitches!!!"
