Yes, clearly walls are perfect substitutes for negotiation, compromise, and respect for other cultures. Maybe all countries should follow Israel's lead and build walls around themselves to make the world a friendlier place.

Here's some reasons why thats stupid.

1 This wall is being built on PALESTINIAN land. Not Israeli land. Palestinians are being displaced and their land stolen and walled off.

2 The Israelis will now be able to slip in through the wall, fuck with Palestine, and then retreat and face few consequences other than rocket attacks.

3 This has been done already. Theres a wall around Gaza but the Israelis still routinely destroy the Gaza strip while not allowing resistance fighters a fair chance to strike back.

JM - That last sentence just sounds so absurd (although that's probably the point). Who's really going to give the opposing side of a war a "fair chance"? I sure as hell would take every opportunity to do what it took to win the war. As the saying goes, "All is fair in love and war."

Slade- Actually I was being serious. The zionists have enough advantages over the intifadah and personally I'd love to see the playing field evened and I certainly do consider it a strike against the Israelis that they continue an unjust and illegal war of oppression on a people far weaker in technology (though not in spirit) than them.

Well what eklse could the Israeli's do. Imagine if you wre in their position. What would you offer for peace. There seems to be a pattern here. The Israeli's keep offering more treaty's and the palestinians say no and continue killing people

They could start by allowing Palestinian refugees to return and then dismantling all illegal settlements in the west bank and gaza. Then everything would be fine.
