Legal Action Taken on 'Hitler Wine'

Belgium's official anti-racism center said on Friday it was preparing legal action to stop imports of an Italian wine with labels depicting Adolf Hitler and other leading Nazis.

"A picture of Adolf Hitler is in itself too little (to trigger legal action), but he's also doing the Hitler salute and there is this message 'One People, One Empire, One Leader'" Ingrid Aendenboom, spokeswoman for the Center for Equal Opportunities and the Fight against Racism, told Reuters.

"That falls within the framework of the anti-racism law," she said.

The wine "is apparently a huge success in Italy," but the Belgian public was "very sensitive to this kind of thing," she said. The wine is sold at Belgian flea markets.

I bet I can guess what the first two of the "Six 'S's of Wine Tasting" are!

Much like Hitler's beloved national policy ideas, this wine only gets better with age.

Well what do you expect from a country whose top selling beverage is Mussolini Root Beer?

I'd like to know where they draw the line. For me, just showing Hitler would be offensive.

But take away the tagline and you have Hitler giving the hitler salute. would that be as offensive as, say, a contemporary politician giving the hitler salute? (my point: hitler doing a hitler thing is kind of redundant, isn't it?)

I think more people would be upset by Mr. Jack Daniel posing alongside a confederate flag.

I doubt that. There are a disturbing number of Confederate flags flown in the back of vehicles all over this area. Keeping in mind, that "this area" refers to SOUTHERN ONTARIO. Yeah, go southern (Ontario) pride!

sorry. forgot the protocol.

speaking of rednecks, I came in late on a shoney's radio commercial the other day with some announcer's thick southern accent saying "so cum ohn ehn tuh shoney's toodayy" and I spoke out "the choice of rednecks everywhere!" then the radio spoke "Thee-yus is Jeff Foxworthy fer Shoney's!" I was on the floor!
