There is no excuse for paying money for compression utilities, and I grow tired of WinZip's lack of RAR and TAR support. I have stumbled upon a handy dandy little program called IZArc that can handle any and all compressed file types that I know of. I strongly reccommend it. Check it out here.

Indeed. I was getting tired of WinAce's "Your 30 Days Have Expired!" notices.

I remember when I had to put up with non-registered compression programs. Then I suddenly bought a new computer. Which has built-in compression, about the only thing I like about XP.

Yeah, but XP's built-in compressor doesn't recognize anything but .zip files. With .rar and .tar archives becoming more popular, I think it's important for software to provide support for those file types.

True, I recently tried to download a game from the Underdogs and it wouldn't recongize the file. It said "Zip file corrupt" There must always be a downside to windows doesn't there? I'm going to go hold up my local grocery store to buy a new apple.
