MAN OH MAN. The Last Samurai was probably the best movie I've ever seen. What do you guys think about it?

I’ve talked in detail about this movie in another thread, but suffice it to say that it is Dances with Wolves set in Japan. (Perhaps it should’ve been called Dances with Samurai. However, if you liked that movie, you’ll like The Last Samurai.

As I said earlier, the movie is generally mindful of Japanese culture -- no people flying through treetops -- although the samurai is highly romanticized. The battle scenes are good -- they’re not gratuitous (unlike The Matrix). There are some minor etiquette issues (e.g., not breaking the seal before drawing the katana when not in combat), but overall, the martial arts and swordplay are good -- nothing too Hollywood, just down to earth fighting.

For those of you who haven’t seen it, I won’t spoil the movie, but it is worth the cost of the ticket, unlike many movies that are released.

I know it's shallow of me, but i don't want to see Tom Cruise under these circumstances.
