I don't think I'd heard of him before that.

In Titanic, Billy Zane is not a part of a romantic triangle. He is a villain. The story is never "Will she choose Billy of Leo?" It's that she wants to flee the life that's been chosen for her. His plot function is to stand in her way.

And, by the way, I have never understood the hostility that has been directed at both Leonardo DiCaprio (who has turned in solid performances in all the films I've seen him in) and Titanic (a labor of love by an incredibly talented director who, unlike a well disliked director here who shall go nameless, understood how special effects could be used in the service of a story rather than to just fill a movie screen with meaningless distracting spectacle).

it's not a triangle, i realize that... i just call it one, cause i think it'd be a tough choice...

story wise it was too easy a choice... but, you know where i'm comming from...

as for leo... my dislike is mostly a political thing...
remarks he has made over the years, and his whole "i'm a big enviromentalist, even though one of my films detroyed a rain forest" thing...

but his performances are always quite adequate...
i never had a problem with his ability as an actor...
but he doesn't impress me either...
