Movies that didn;t need sequels we saw enough already

And as for Revolutions, most people hate it more than Reloaded. I loved it. I'd give it ****/****, and I still, to this day, although I understand that most people hate it, can't understand what there is to hate about it. I could understand reloaded, but not Revolutions. Watch it on cable (it'll probably be on HBO soon), becuase I certainly don't think you should spend money on something that chances are you won't like. But I do think you should give it a shot.
And I thought Keanu Reeves, in all 3 films, did a very good job. Will Smith was originally offered the part, and he said, "I would've screwed it up. Keanu did an amazing job," saying he was really underrated. I think he was believeable enough. And I thought the clothing was fine, it's VR, if you're going to believe the concept, you might as well believe that a person who's almost all-powerful in VR is going to be able to fight in whatever clothes he so chooses.
Oh plus, Don Davis' music for both sequels is amazing, but that doesn't really matter.
And so ends my rant on the Matrix sequels.
While I will agree that T2 and T3 were unnecessary, I also think they were still enjoyable. There is a difference. T1 stood much better on its own with the sequels, but the sequels at least were well-made and entertaining. Same goes for the BTTF sequels.
And though it wasn't an unecessary sequel, Batman Returns sucked. There's a difference there too though, I guess.
Mike, you thought Supes 1 was bad? I'm surprised, I mean that's just a classic superhero movie. 2 is good, more action I agree, but Supes 1 is just so well-made and well-structured, you have a great villain in Lex Luthor, the defining superhero movie score by JW, the defining superhero in Chris Reeves, effects that really make you believe he can fly, and a great underlying story. I don't see what you couldn't like about it.

Well, maybe calling Supes 1 bad is a little too strong.
It was more disappointing than anything.
I loved all the scenes involving his origin and the Krypton scenes. But the movie slides downhill after Supes saves Lois in that helicopter.
I also thought the Lois lane "dating" scene went on way too long.
Also they teased us too much with those Phantom Zone villains in the beginning.

Had it's merits. I saw a clip the other day of when Supes blows the door away, about to enter Luthor's lair and Hackman says: "it's open. come in."
The dating scene was too long, but at least the film didn't drape the audience with a dark cape of brood. It was pretty light, overall.
II rocked Big time. Loved the humanity aspect. But that was the summer of Empire and life was good.

I am surprised anyone's seen BLUE IN THE FACE. Yes.
MC: the long robe is a wushu staple. It flows nice when you throw a kick, and looks all cool. You saw CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON, right? Also, I urge you to watch Jet Li play Wong Fi-Hung in any of about thirty films and tell me that you can't throw a kick dressed like that. Because: He Can.
CRUEL INTENTIONS has a literary source, and that source had no sequel. I react to CI 2 as I would to CLUELESS 2 or GREAT EXPECTATIONS 2 or ANOTHER LORD OF THE RINGS. So, no, it doesn't make me think differently of horses because I've never seen it.
Speaking of literary: LITTLE MEN.

What's wushu staple???
And about kicking in any sort of clothes - well, I understand it is only a film. Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is, I think, the acme of suspension of disbelief about what you can do. I do not take it seriously.
I just remarked that in normal life, you cannot do it. Come to think of it, you cannot fly, walk on the water of jump 30 feet. Or can you ?

Sorry, "staple" = "A basic or principal element or feature."
"Wushu" = the correct term for all Chinese martial arts therefore kung fu and wushu were originally the same. During the last thirty years, wushu in Mainland China was modernized so that there could be a universal standard for training and competing. In essence, much emphasis has been placed on speed, difficulty, and presentation. Consequently, wushu has become an athletic and aesthetic performance and competitive sport, while "kung fu" or traditional wushu remains the traditional fighting practice. Taijiquan is a major division of wushu, utilizing the bodies internal energy or "chi" and following the simple principle of "subduing the vigorous by the soft."
That text stolen from here.
Essentially, Wushu is now the art of stage combat, and of course screen combat as well. Long robes look nice, so they're a part of it. Long poles, three-section staves, even a horseshoe tied to a rope (SHANGHAI NOON) are all a part f the aesthetic of making kug fu look really cool on screen.
As for all that "suspending disbelief" in CROUCHING TIGER et al, yes I did that. But I suspended my disbelief in THE MATRIX as well. Didn't you?

... but when I realised that they were supposed to have magical abilities and were therefore flying, I had no problem with it.
So I don't mind if a character falls into a crevice leading to the depths of the earth and survives... as long as you tell me he's a magician first.

And I'd have to say, that I also liked the Matrix sequals.

I did...But I still wanted to believe the first part... I felt attached to it. But during the second part just looked silly.

"Matrix Reloaded & Revolutions" - what were they thinking?!
"The Lost World: Jurassic Park 2" and "Jurassic Park 3" were abominations.
"Blues Brothers 2000" is truly a disgrace.
"Lethal Weapon 2-4" weren't exactly up to par either. I kind of enjoyed #3 but #2 was terrible and #4 had that distinct feeling of 'gone to the well too many times'.
A lot of people's lives would be much better without the Star Wars prequels.
"Batman & Robin" was a joke. A sick, SICK JOKE. I spit on "Batman & Robin" (it's no wonder Arnold decided to become Governor of Califnornia - B&R made him box office poison).
"Home Alone 3" we could have done without. HA2 is a matter of opinion.
"Predator 2" wasn't bad but it didn't feel quite right without Arnold.
"Die Hard With A Vengeance" proved to be cruel & unusual punishment.
"The Fly 2" we could have done without.
They should have stopped the Star Trek movies either after #6 or that one with the Borg.
I was once forced to watch the 2nd Harry Potter film with my cousins - who are 6, 4, and 2 respectively - and the whole time I wanted to rip off my ears and gouge my eyes.
"Terminator 3" - oh the shame and humiliation...
One of the few good things we got out of "Superman III" was less Margot Kidder. Other than that, Annette O'Toole and the late Christopher Reeve's valiant attempt to present a sincere depiction of an evil Superman amidst a terrible script, it landed with a thud.
Is anyone afraid of the upcoming sequel to "Pirates of the Caribbean"? POTC stood fine on its own, but I'm wary of this sequel tentively titled "Treasure of the Lost Abyss".
The upcoming "Mask 2: Son of the Mask" looks pretty bad.
