Well, arena-prog is one of mine.
That's the only one i feel guilty about. Even my taste for soft-rock and acid rock don't make me feel ashamed... well, maybe the acid rock one. Just as long as they don't jam for 20 minutes straight they're good!

Also, and i know i'll regret this when and if i hear the whole album, but certain tracks off Linkin Parks newest have some (though not quite enough) redeeming qualities. And hey, since it's so hip to hate them, i guess that makes me feel less ashamed.

Sum 41's new single shows quite a step forward too. I think in a few albums they may turn out something kinda fantastic if they play their cards right. The clumsy lyrics are the main thing keeping them back, but they're advancing songwriting prowress impresses me!
A lot of people are willing to write off a band after their first couple albums (especially if they started young), but there are lots of groups that come into their own after a few years *coughthebeatlescough*.
If John Mayer ditches the horrendous pop shit he craps out, and plays his damn guitar a bit more, he might be worth something in a few years.

Hair Metal
Some kids like Motley Crue because they think they're funny. I like them because they rock. The Crue, Twisted Sister, Poison, I likes the hair metal.

New Wave/Synth Pop
Not really "guilty" per se, but I do enjoy the synth-driven stuff that came out of the 80s. Depeche Mode, New Order, Thompson Twins, Gary Numan, Aha, Culture Club, etc.

HIM
I know the lyrics are cheesy, the music simplistic, and the songs somewhat repetitive, but gosh darn it, I love this band.

Kylie Minogue
Her music has become surprisingly complex. Sure, that's more to do with the producers, but I like her voice too. It's sassy.

Sisters Of Mercy
Make all the goth comments you want, "Temple Of Love" rocked and you know it.

Black Metal
I'm very open about my love of the symphonic stuff, like Cradle Of Filth and Dimmu Borgir. However, not many are aware that I really dig the hardcore death/thrash stuff too, like Dark Funeral and Gorgoroth.

I go on hair metal binges. But you forgot AC~DC, Hecc. And I liked Smash Mouth's Astro Lounge, although I haven't listened to it in a year or so.

Speaking of Sum 41 enhancing their composing abilities, Nickleback seems to have done the same. Granted, they are still irritating corporate rock drivel, but it does seem that they are trying to go somewhere. They might be halfway decent in a few more years, but probably not.

Yeah, the early Beatles stuff is kinda boring to listen to. Starts picking up somewhere in Help and Rubber Soul, and then you can safely say "Mmm... them's getting to be good songs."

For someone who, in fact, likes everything from Satyricon to Sum 41 and back the other way via a modicum of drum'n'bass, my only real musical shame is that I actually paid to see Coolio live the other week. Sure, "Gangstas Paradise", yes, but every other song the man has written is so stereotypically gangsta its embaressing. To quote someone the morning after, he was asking "Where my niggas at?" every five minutes, and five of them were behind him at all times going "Here! Here you idiot!"

Damn! I hope you didn't misconstrew my aside as me decrying their early years! I LOVE that stuff (i know their early albums had quite their share of filler too, but whatever)! I'm just saying if that's all they contributed to popular music it would have only been awesome fun, not revolutionary (for lack of a better word).
Rubber Soul and Revolver are hands-down my favorite Beatles albums.

Why would I mention AC/DC as a hair metal band? They aren't a hair metal band.

I like some of the trite soft-rock stuff from the 70's. Lots of folks would probably laugh at Bread's silly lyrics like "Baby I'm a Want You, Baby I'm a Need You," but dang that stuff just makes me swoon when I hear it.

I also never tire of hearing "I've Seen All Good People" by Yes or "Magic Man" by Heart.

I love Sum 41's third CD.

Seriously. I love it.

I love the sound, I love the lyrics, and I still listen to it regularly. Most music that I love becomes the soundtrack for various ideas and storylines in my head, and my god does this CD cover some good ones...

...Also, I have the soundtrack for the Buffy musical episode "Once More With Feeling"...hey, that was a cool show, goddammit!

A genuine guilty pleasure: Cheap Trick. I haven't heard much beyond their singles, but "I want you to want me" MAKES me like it... i have no idea. In fact, i think i'll have to pick up 'at Budokan' on my next trip to the store.

The Cheap Trick tune "Surrender" rocks. It's got some really odd lyrics if you listen to it.

Hmmm...I've have to admit a general fondness to over the top J-pop, ranging from the Love Hina theme Sakura Saru (the only decent thing to come out of that series) to Puffy. I also have a soft spot for Blink 182, mostly due to an older brother who listened to them and riding around in his car when I managed to get a sick excuse from highschool and getting some french fries from Burger King...That was a real great time.

I have a sort of general soft spot for over the top music in general...in more of an INXS way than a broadway sense.

Revolver and Rubber Soul Rock. the UK version of the former has "And your bird can sing" which is a POWERFUL 2 minutes and I'll never understand how it wasn't a big hit.

There used to be an itunes radio station "superseventies: pop and bubble gum from the groovy decade." I was working on a retro (cabinet hardware) catalog* featuring fonts, colors and trends from the 1970s, so man, that was a trip. Gordon Lightfoot, Andy Gibb, The Hustle, Fly Robin Fly, Angie baby? Yes.

*that was the issue with Han wielding a power drill ("Feel the Force of 14 Volts blah blah blah")

Hecc... my bad, I sometimes lump stuff together that I shouldn't.

I can't stand Sum 41 or Blink 182 AT ALL. Like despise them with every once of my bitter soul can't stand them.

I tolerate the early Beatles stuff, and it's easy to sing along with, but I don't particularly like it. Yay, for paving the way and all that, of course, just not my cup'o'tea. Not assuming you on anything.

Death to Blink 182...

...Ok, so I like them until I was about sixteen, but still! I've done enough repenting and flagellation over that.

You know how Gob suck now? You know how they had one really cool fun-time album with a funny cover and title? Yea, i kinda liked that.
Also, about 1/3 of the tracks on Offsprings' "Smash" i can still listen to and enjoy.
