I don't care what anybody says, "Let's Get Retarded" by Black Eyed Peas is funny as hell.

I hate rap, but I still had to run off and download it because it just cracks me up.

I'e found out lately that Micheal Jackson did actually have a thing for writing good songs, until I became an alien creature...

Who cares what label they're on? Le Tigre's a fine band, and the new album is quite good. Just because they're on a major label, that doesn't mean they're making a fortune all of the sudden.

i'm dissapointed by her decision. although bikini kill never meant a great deal to me, i always liked her polemics about staying independant. and now this. supporting the scissor sisters...regardless of your approach going into a decision like this, no matter how much you say "it wont effect me", i think it always will have an effect on the music, and in my experience its usually a detrimental one. and at the very least, its a bit of a fuck you to all the kids who've supported her over the years.

Guilty pleasures in music, eh? Well, would "Welcome to the Jungle" by GnR count? Or, how about Frog's theme from Chrono Trigger?

BUM da da dumm, da da dumm, dum dum, de-de-de-duuum...

What's the shame in GnR? Nowadays, they're little more than a tribute band to themseves circa 15-odd years ago, but I liked Appetite for Destruction...

Nothing wrong with breakin' out the GnR from time to time. I've argued for a long time that they had more of a hand in killing hair metal than Nirvana did.
I guess my guilty pleasures are Marilyn Manson (although not much, I do enjoy a bunch of his songs), Kylie Minogue, pre-McDonald's but post-Nsync Justin Timberlake, Boxcar Racer, Motley Crue, Poison, glam/hair metal in general, The Cardigans, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and probably some others that I can't think of at the moment. It's kind of funny to be the funny-looking punk kid in your class and have people call while you're listening to Kylie Minogue.

Heh. Bosstones aren't too bad. One of the original ska groups (although I know you're not into ska, so...). But Boxcar Racer and Timberlake? You make me chuckle, Heccubus.

Game music is only a guilty pleasure if the music sucks. Sometimes a game can suck but have good music, sometimes the music can suck but the game be good. I haven't liked Final Fantasy games since the SNES went out of style, but Nobuo Uematsu can still compose like a mofo.

Speaking of Mighty Mighty Bosstones, I remember last year it was a unanimously agreed on among my high school's marching band that "The Impression That I Get" is one of the best songs ever.

EVER.

And it was damn fun to play, too.

If we're now doing guilty pleasures close to home, I've got a stack of them...
Bon Jovi (the one song I've ever drummed live was You Give Love A Bad Name)
Bryan Adams (meh)
And to my infinate shame, in moments of weakness... I bring out Nickleback's latest album.

I'm truley sorry for the last one...

Make no mistake, the Bosstones are not an original ska band. Ska got its start (as we know it) in the UK during the late 70s with bands like The Specials (whom I love) and Madness. Ska itself is essentially a more energetic reggae. The Bosstones add a touch of hardcore to the mix.

The bosstones, the specials, madness, less than jake, reel big fish, catch-22, save ferris........none of these can compare to the true king of ska: Desmond Dekker! Yeah!

Guilty pleasures? Tom Waits and Bruce Springsteen.

I'm not old enough for that to be ok.
