I keep getting this message:

Apache/1.3.27 Server at www.chefelf.com Port 80

It doesn't happen everytime, but its happend twice in the last 10 minutes. I find that if that comes up, all I get is crap afterwards.(by crap, I mean pages of text I don't understand) I generally have to quite IE and reload it to get the forums to work.

It just happens sometimes. Usually if you back up and refresh the posting page it works fine.

The sites (chefelf, LNE, FR.com, heccubus.com, etc.) are being migrated to a new server sometime this week. It will hopefully help with this issue and the issue where you see the raw PHP code for the forums. smile.gif

Tech forum, of course. Sorry about that, and thanks for listening.

Yeah, it's been an ongoing problem for over a year now. The server we're on is the same server we started on when LNE went "public" back in 2000. So, the hardware's a little out of date and the server has lived a full life.

We're migrating to a state-of-the-art new server with bells and whistles and (more importantly) much better specs. This should help in the performance of the sites we host as well as minimizing those weird PHP errors that occur from time to time.

The migration should be (fingers crossed) seamless and conclude by the end of the week. The only noticeable difference (to readers) will be that the errors will hopefully not occur anymore and the site should run a little more smoothly.

Heccubus, as far as things are concerned on the website level it won't be that much different. There are a few extra features we will support but as far as you and I are concerned it won't really change our lives all that much. Just a few added languages and software upgrades that we don't understand and may never use.

It's always fun to spout off a couple of three-letter acronyms though. cool.gif
