I guess I am.
But I don't type sterotypically like most "computer geeks" do. I still follow grammatical rules, and (if I can avoid it) spelling errors.

I think I'm a geek though.

After studying your first post extensively, I can confidently say that if you pick out letters from it based on a complex algorithm, it spells out "I infer that some African-Americans enjoy fried chicken and watermelon more than other foods."

In conclusion, your post is very stereotypical. Shame on you.

Hmmm yeah I've LARPed, done TT, I know my way around the innards of a computer and I can understand technical jargon. I'm a computer geek.

I'm a geek for entirely different reasons.

A) I have not had female contact, not even as friends, for over 2 years now

cool.gif I work at a video store in a location were dozens of beautiful women, both mothers and daughters, witness me put DVD's in a case and bag it for them while their rich good looking boyfriends (who look like assholes) toss me the money.

C) I'm starting to get into "the OC", and wish my life was like Ryan's

Jordan:
A - Not neccecarily geek.

B - Video stores are not geek occupations. If you worked at EB, it would be plausable.

C - Liking the OC that makes you a 14 year old girl.

I'm a computer geek, but I'm also a hippy/punk and aspiring musician. Mainly that means I wish I could get off my ass and kick some, I own a skateboard which I can balance on, and can play the piano and fake sounding decent enough for a few people to be moderately impressed.

Some day, though, I'll get a level in World of Warcraft, then celebrate with a trey flip down a 14 set while rocking out on an electric guitar wih an original alternative music #1 hit. And then I'll go get drunk and yell at people when I get killed by them in a game of Super Smash Bros. Melee. Or something.

LTTS - You mean people who speak hax0r(z) seriously. They seem to be more the stupid non-computer people who just know how to go online. I occasionally spell words in hax0r for comic effect, as I like being sarcastic towards those people. I normally use complete sentences, proper grammar, and refrain from the standard internet acronyms (lol, wtf, stfu n00b, roflmao, etc.) But I don't know, I'm j005t t4lking 0ut 0f my 455 h4r3...

Sometimes when I'm playing video games on a console with friends and I start losing I cry that my friend is "using hacks!" Yep, I'm a geek, no doubt about it. But I did have a girlfriend once for two months!

I need to go play some Tony Hawk's Underground and forget about how sad I am.

I prefer the term nerd. I'm double majoring in physics and chemistry, so it pretty much comes with the territory.

My geekiness is confirmed thusly:
1) I decided that some day, instead of wearing a black T-shirt (as I normally do, like, every day) I would wear a white one with "#000000" written on it.

2) See: avatar.

3) I can recite most any Simpsons quote word for word from seasons 3-10.

4) I'm getting a dual monitor set up in a couple of months.

5) I sing along with the Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack. Out loud.

That is a decision I can get behind. Be prepared to not be able to tolerate using a single monitor PC ever again. biggrin.gif

Hecc: That would be an awesome shirt. I like my AFK hat, because I tend to space out when I'm out going somewhere. My brain goes AFK during travel.

Oh I know. A friend of mine had one of his monitors blow the other day, and it was hell for him.

I'd say I'm a part time geek. On the one hand, my entire spare time not spent drinking is wasted on MSN, a deluge of message board goodness, and the odd mid 90s RPG. I understand HTML, to a certain degree, and sued to know BASIC. However, I run off of a tiny laptop, couldn't tell you a thing about what makes the damned thing tick, and as for programming stuff...

However, I substitute it with with being a wargamer. This is an exclusive branch of the nerd/geek demographic, which involves wasting huge sums of money on what my roommate describes are "toy soldiars", painting them, then playing games with them which involve a conspicuous absense of the metric system, and more dice than a D&D marathon. Which is not something I've ruled out for the future...
