Somewhere between Advance wars and final fantasy tactics. Combines elements of both and chucks a few of it's own ideas into the mix.

Well it is for the genesis, so Sort of, but it's ripping off elements of Necris and Shining force, and I can't remember exactly who did the cutscene warfare genre first.....

That's the one I meant, it's similar to Battle isle. (battle isle ripped it off I think).

Games are just bluring together these days.....

yeah i thought so! man nectaris rocked, if they ripped it so bad its a shame they never ripped the encirclment affect and support fire, cos those never showed up again, atleast not in any games i played.

Battle Isle had encirclement bonuses; no free hexs = no retreat square for fast units, each additonal friendly unit adjacent to the target provided a 5-10% modifier to the combat results. Or at leats they did by BI2. Artilllery support was only a factor if attacking directly after an firing, in which case it altered the terrain bonus.

The System 3 one with the hippies, gangsters and skinheads right? It was fun, but it was teeth grindly aggravating at times. That game badly needed an alternate difficulty setting.

Go on, I'll have a go at reviving this topic.

Classic ZX Spectrum games
Gunfighter.
Treasure Island Dizzy.
Double Dragon. (I hadn't heard of streets of rage back then).
Stuntbike FX (or something to that effect).

And special mention to Sensible World of Soccer on the PC.

I used to have Double Dragon 3 on my Amiga, which for some reason was completely different to the double dragon 3 on other systems. Oh well, I enjoyed it until Japan, where it crashed.
The Green Knight, SimeSublime the Puffinesque, liker of chips and hunter of gnomes.

I dare anyone to remember Jer Set Willy for old ZX Spectrum. Or Knight Lore.
Or am I the only fossil here who remebers time before IBM-compatible?

Ever played Atic Atac? rolleyes.gif

EDIT: and others I remember...

Exolon, great graphics for the time...
Harrier Attack, yep...
Anyone ever played Nether Earth? RTS game... real cool.
Where Time Stood Still? - great game for the 128k...

Target Renegade! A great beat'em'up! smile.gif
