nowadays its all about the story, if the story dont have to players it wont have co-op, shame they dont just sod the story for multiplayer like in the old fps', although they do have co-op in serious sam, which fucking rocks

Personally I prefer story to co-op, just because co-op is difficult to organise. My brother has no interest in any game I like, and if I'm going to have a games night, I may as well get a few more people and play some multiplayer games. That being said, three friends and I are currently going through Champions of Norrath, and when thats done we have Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2 set up.

You can have a story and play co-op. Baldur's gate did it (somewhat flawed, but it worked), system shock 2 had multiplayer added on later, and it improved the tension massively. Halo just pretended that player 2 wasn't there in the cutscenes.
Serious sam had no story, so the co-op was a no brainer. Shame the game got a bit too repetative.

Dark alliance 2's good for multiplay. I'm still banned from going back to X-men legends until my mates come back from vacation. The Hunter series are fun too, if you can find 3 other people to team up with.

You didnt get what i meant sime, they have story but its only messed up wen u play co-op, exactly like halo 'the cut-scenes simply pretend player 2 (and 3 and 4 and 5 and 6 ect...) wasnt there' i mean duke 3d has a story, but in co-op there 2 dukes. thats all they have to do.

Duke4ever (yes, I have read Yartzee's rant) apparently isn't going to have co-op, which will be a major loss. I am still interested to see how the game ends up, mainly because I'm sick of dodging alarms and killing people with cheesewire. Simple point, shot, kill gameplay in varied locations. That's what we need more of.

Came across a copy of AVP2 the other day. I guess its old enough now to be considered 'old'. Most of the way through with the marine and the alien. Haven't started the predator yet, but am greatly enjoying the game.

Sorry to sound like a bust record, but AVP could have done with decent co-op (not the half arsed 'defend the base' stuff they put in). It was practically made for it. Why developers? WHY?

Still a good game though. Should have added the alien queen (AVP) to the best bad guys thread, she was impressive at the time.

I hated the Predator mission on AVP2, but playing as the Alien was my favorite thing in that game. lol! Multiplayer is alright, but yea, Co-Op would just be amazing.

how could you not want to be the Aliens?

they made it a FPS where you can go up walls!!!

Predator sucks, because, er...? dammit!

Aliens were fun to be in a team with over a lan or net!

...it wasn't tactical, it was just merciless killing, FUN!

The preditor sucked because stealth always blows in thse kinds of games, plus his weapons weren't half as good as they were in the films. The marines all had the Arnie like tendancy to survive direct hits from the shoulder cannon.

laugh.gif well there you go.

I think stealth is ok, but i prefer the kinda stealth Aliens use (hide in darkness not moving) over the active stealth camo that the predator uses.

Has anyone got Halo2? its just that do you think the pradator and the elites from the covernant are slightly similar? just a thought... huh.gif

-note(the edit was a terible grammar mistake...that I'd rather not mention)

well its true that it needed co-op, but the best part of multiplayer is pitting a human (me) against an alien (my friend) and seeing if the alien can stealthily kill the human or if the human blows the alien to hell. although the 'stealth' part got blown away when my friend got so good that he would litterally hop over my rockets. although mr. minigun kept him back smile.gif

I'd ahce to agree that the multiplayer has it's benifits, certainly if you can hijaack one of the uni computer labs for a big game (6 aliens, 3 marines, and a predator). There aen't enough good levels though.

wow, the biggest multiplayer games I ever get to play (only including mates, not over t'internet) is 4-player, 2v2 is so fun no-matter what race you are. its kinda like a challenge if your the 'lesser' race. has ne1 heard about Elder Scrolls IV yet? it looks really good, graphics are blink.gif mind blowing! blink.gif
