You're probably best off with an amiga emulator if you're on XP, I still keep the spare PC on 98, that way it runs anything. Or you could try using dosbox, I think that's more reliable than the XP standard method.

Why is it that every game message board ends up with 'does it work on xp?' posts. The happy people at microsoft have much to answer for.

But I'm drifting again. Gauntlet, pre-decimalised currency that one wasn't it? caused a numer of fights over who'd be which character and untold of figths afterwards.

Barbarian - 'Oh great! Death's here'
Mage - 'We'll I'd use magic, but some idiot shot the potion'
B - 'Hey! you try being in the front line instead of loitering at the back chucking fireballs!
M - 'At least I hit things now and then, rather than just run straight for all the power ups!'
B - 'You want some of this dress-boy?'
M - 'That's rich coming from someone who fights in their underwear!'

You'll get bored of it soon enough, Morrowind's weird like that. It's big, there's lots to see, but after a while you just lose interest. It needed more variety or something.

Didn't stop me completing it though.....

I have the Game of Year Edition, but never finished the orrigional campaign. Which is strange, as I usually play a game through to the end. I've just got another friend hooked on Morrowind though, so its funny to watch his life fall out of focus devil.gif

A sign of a truely great game is when it trashes you social life. Baldur's gate, Fallout 2, Everquest, Phantasy star online; all responsable for a relationship breakup. I was lucky to be single when I bought Morrowind.

They should put a warning on these games.

If you're not single at the moment, steer clear of Planescape: Torment. Unless of course your looking for a reason to break up wink.gif

Might have to give it a try, I'm attempting to get some distance at the moment. The old 'you do nothing but play video games' argument hasn't featured yet.

Just the other day I decided to play the origional DOOM again. And I realized something. It's actually scarier than DOOM 3. Mabye it's the fact that at home I play in the dark with Surround Sound Headphones. I played DOOM 3 at a friend's house at noon. huh.gif

There's something to be said for cruddy pixelated graphics, dodgy lighting, and scenery that always looks the same. Doom's lack of technology is probably a benefit these days.

Reminds me of aliens on the spectrum.

co-op is always fun (well, except in guantlet). Duke3d had a similar thing going for it, particularly i you download the platoon TC. As did quake II, system shock II, heretic II (lots of sequels here, but the last 2 get a bonus having a storyline). Co-op was what made me buy Halo in the end.

These day's there's such an emphasis on stealth bits that Co-op just gets lost in the suffle.
