I agree with you, Barend. I really think a lot of people out there show poor taste and commercial success is no measure of quality. It's a measure of popularity or promotional tactics - nothing less, nothing more.

As for it being too expensive to restore the original movies to DVD, that is the biggest load of shit I have heard in a very long time.

I've said it before - Lucas is just being a dog in a manger. He doesn't like the old films so he won't let anyone else watch them either.

what's worse is that i have notice the lack of the words "special editions" or "Ultimate Editions" ...

also the TV add for the box set does not show new scenes... it shows old ones cleaned up and restored...

this in conjunction with the misappropriated use of the word "ORIGINAL" on the packaging...

leeds me to believe the a majority of people purchasing these think they are getting the originals...

All I can say is, I'm not buying them. I own the original three on laserdisc (and, yes, I have a player) and that's as good quality as I want. I'll bet that the laserdiscs will be ridiculously valuable some day.
