i wish he`d release both versions too. i do feel for guys like you you hate the prequels, but being unable to escape it as its influence as now it is even shaping (you would say "corrupting") the films you loved as a kid. that must be tough.

and although I like the prequels, i`m not a "gusher". i just enjoy them, flaws and all.

Thanks for your sympathy, Jariten. I would go into the argument, but it's been done ad nauseum. I'm growing tired of all this. It feels to me that the release of these DVD's is the end. Perhaps I'll go see Episode III, and then that's the end of it. Perhaps Lucas one day will release the O-OT, but right now he seems incredibley stubborn about the whole thing. I can't understand it. It can be couched in 'artistic vision' etc., etc., etc., but I think it's something a little more petty than that, a little more selfish, and Lucas doesn't mean to be that way, but it sure as hell comes across that way.

Sigh.

I mean you nor Lucas no ill. I just need to move on. I grow wearisome of all this, and nothing is being accomplished with my complaining. I wish that petition at originaltrilogy.com had had some effect, but it looks as though it has not.

What else can be done or said? Nothing really.

Battle for the Galaxy--read the "other Star Wars"

All I know is I haven't seen the real prequels yet.

Thank you for your last post, Jariten. It was a nice gesture and I appreciate it. You're a good guy.

"i was a star wars fan from 1977 to the premire of 1983 return of the jedi...i remember in high school when the future terrorist, druggies, wife beaters , of america ect where wearing thier "kiss" , "cheech and chong" shirts ect, i with pride wore my star wars tee-shirt, there was something just kick ass about the tee with han solo and chewbacca with thier weapons drawn ready to fight the evil forces of the empire..."

Yes, there we were...and Star Wars meant something.

"well retun of the jedi came and i stopped being a fan that opening night, never did i fell so betrayed as i did that may night of 1983...poor story and although i could swallow a second death star, i could not swallow the ewokes..."

Agreed. But those tree-houses were so cool man!

"...lucas took some of our best memories from the high school years and just crapped all over them...yes it might be his "story" but 1 he took from so many different sources ( like the samuri movie "hidden fortress" where lucas freely admits to his inspiration for star wars ) and 2 its the fan base that makes or breaks any franchise be it movie, tv, or movie / singing star lucas owed us a better movie...did you noticed the real lack of merchantdising for "clones" sure a thing here and there but nothing like the merchandising of "star wars" "empire" or even "jedi"..."

I hear ya man, and its all true. You speak the truth.

"now with the coming of the "re-mastered" original series this month i say the franchise has sunk to a new low...i think that the best the true fan base can do is just not buy into any of the product AT ANY LEVEL...THAT ENCLUDES FOOD / DRINK / ECT PRODUCT TIE INS..."

That IS the Only answer.

"...i think that it will be another 25 years before we see a "redeeming" of the series...i personaly believe that in 50 years CGG will be so advance that any actor from charles chaplin to top actor in 2054 can be CGGed...this would have good and bad sides but in the hands of say "fan based conglomerates " or money hungrey studioes who see a gold mine in a "properly" constructed movie more along with the fans as a whole want , then this is where CGG will come into acceptance...until then the true SW fan needs to be very very very tight with any dollar going to a current star wars movie.... "

When Lucas dies, there will be a great cheer on earth, equivalent to his remaking of the end of ROTJ, and hopefully someone with the ability will secure the rights and completely remake the prequels, there ARE so many of us who see this...so many who agree...so many who saw the SAME DIFFERENT prequels. Believe me, I have read so many posts since 2000 regarding how we saw the clone wars, the Jedi, the Force, Obiwan, Vader, and everything and we somehow recognized and saw a different story, but what is compelling is what we saw in our heads and how similar it is to eachother's visions...Lucas however did not, and most likely focused on market analysis and other EVIL things.

Those movies will be made, trust me, but not by Lucas...I have foreseen it...
