Ooh, someone else reading the His Dark Materials trilogy, then?

Jolly good. You're looking for The Subtle Knife next, followed by The Amber Spyglass. And it only gets better from where you're at now...

I love the Pullman books too, and Pratchett too. I'm surprised so many people here read the same stuff I do!

Right now I'm reading Tad Williams War of the Flowers, which is really good so far.

Anybody else read Williams' stuff?

Nope, but I have the "His Dark Materials" trilogy in a single volume on my shelf. I loved it as well. I think I read the first two when I was about 15, then read all three together when I bought them last year. Brilliant books. Has anybody read Sara Douglas' Crucible Trilogy?

Personally, I think that would be hard to do well. The book travelled a lot of ground.

I think Pullman's a crap writer. I am the only person in the world who thinks this.
