I was in Tennessee over the weekend, visiting a good friend, and we went to the planetarium Sat. Night to experience “Dark Side of Oz,” a showing of Wizard of Oz highlights/Laser light show set to Pink Floyd’s classic “The Dark Side of the Moon.”

I’ve always heard of the “legend,” but have never seen/heard it. It was pretty cool. The presentation ducked in and out of the movie and included the light show lasers here and there. It was great. I’ve not googled nor am I an expert to all the “coincidences” but it was pretty cool. Dorothy balancing, Tin-man's heartbeat, farmhouse/voice rising and falling, Money entry to munchkinland, a wicked munchkin dance with the new music! There’s much much more I’m sure I’ll sign up for when I learn about it. Or maybe I'll have a trademark "understanding." Yeah, that’s right.

Incidentally, there was an interactive vote beforehand with armrest pushbutton technology. Question one was: Where are you from? A) Dickson, TN B ) Dickson County, C) Tennessee, D) neither or I’m not sure right now. Question two was: Do I know what to expect? A) I’ve heard of it, B ) I’m unsure, C) Seen it before or D) Yes I know what to expect and I’m properly medicated.

They showed the voting results live on the dome. I was in the majority on both answers, which fluctuated a little as people discerned the available replies. If you try it at home I think you start the CD on the MGM lion's third roar.

We did that in my high school psych class (sans lasers, of course wink.gif ). It was really strange, yet cool.

I hear the next step is to try it on shrooms. tongue.gif

Oo, I'm taking Psych next year, and supposedly we watch lots of movies, maybe I should suggest that! (Well not the part about the shrooms.)
Head Gunner for the Royal Sloop Crimson Steel, Queen of the Dead, Instigator of Chaos and Confusion, Knight of the Grand Recursive Order of the Lambda Calculus, and also The Non.

Remember Emu's face, people; one day it's going to be on the news alongside a headline about blowing some landmark to smithereens, and then we can all sigh and say, "She was such a normal person".....
....We'd be lying though.

I've seen it... pretty cool. Dorothy was kind of cute, I realised... which would be scary except Judy Garland was definitely not a little girl at the time. cool.gif

So what is this? We put The Wizard of Oz in the DVD player, Dark Side of the Moon in the CD player, mute the TV and watch in sync?
The Green Knight, SimeSublime the Puffinesque, liker of chips and hunter of gnomes.

Yeah Sime, I think you're supposed to start the cd on the third roar of the MGM lion. It plays through to where the troupe meet the tin man. At that point replay the cd. I've also heard to play the wish you were here cd for the second time through. If you try it I'd love to hear what you thought.

As kids, we used to watch the telly on mute and listen to the radio and open up to how they could work together, with amusing results. I understand that if you can hear the words this thing really layers so you just want to listen with an open mind. the munchkins dancing to the PF music was surreal enough to justify a try. smile.gif if you don't have anything else to do. run a google search for complete info.

From Tripod's "Hey Hey its Sale of the Saturday"(take off of Sale of the Century and Hey Hey its Saturday)

A rather stoned Ozzy Ostrich:"Oh hey, hey guys. I've discovered this great thing. What you do is put Pink Floyd on, then you turn down the volume on Hey Hey its Saturday, then you switch the vision off, and it fits perfectly!"

Oh yeah, one rumor is that PF wanted to Name the DSOTM album "over the rainbow."

(and there is a rainbow on the prism...)

what's that song? brain dead? that's the scarecrow's song. (if I only had a brain)

it goes on an on.
